City Employment

Working in City Government is not easy; and I've been employed by my City for close to 20 years. Some would consider it a blessing to have such a "cinchy job" especially in times like these when millions of people are unemployed and steady employment is not promised to anyone.

It's not easy being employed at a place where promotions are based on not what you do or what you know but who you know. How many times have I trained the new person hired with no experience who later became my supervisor? How many times have I had to quote the following to myself to keep on keeping on?

My mother had a sign like this one placed on our living room table where I would see it every day. My Mom is now with the ancestors.

Why didn't I leave you may ask?

Because I have far too much time invested with the City and I am happily looking forward to retirement and collecting a pension which is 1 leg of my 3 legged stool of retirement. (The other 2 legs being social security and my own contribution)
