Pretty Links is My New Learning Today

I am following Kyle's Wealthy Affiliate bootcamp training, and I hit the one on using Pretty Links. Wow! Instead of those links that show us as http://ljaf;oiyaiefrn1i23]-0oq43;tqkjfhaldnvcbviuew vm when you click on them, this little plug-in can convert them to show the name of the product when you hover over it. A big improvement!

When you click it goes right to the affiliate page, no problem!

Much, much prettier!

I was sold immediately. No cost, mind you, just some time, going over my old posts and updating all the links. Details can make the difference, don't you agree?

Here is the system I developed, and it was pretty efficient.

First, of course, open Rubix and get the Pretty Links plug-in. Upload it and activate it. It will then appear as an option on your Manage Content list on the lefthand side. Open that.

Then I opened up another Wealthy Affiliate sign-on page and opened up Rubix again, in to Site Content. Now I have 4 tabs for Wealthy Affiliates: Two Wealthy Affiliates and two inside Rubix, one for Site Content and one for Pretty Links.

The steps I used were these:

  1. Open a page, and find an affiliate link. Open to edit and copy the link.
  2. Go to the Pretty Plug-in Page and press the "Add Pretty Link" at the top left. Paste the copied link into the target URL (second line down).
  3. Put in the product name on the third line after your website name, and go to the bottom of the page and click "Create".
  4. A new page comes up, and at the first line is your new product link. Go to the far right and copy the link that is there.
  5. Go back to the tab on the post you are editing and paste your new link code there.
  6. Make sure you have clicked the "open in a new page", and click update.
  7. Repeat the process for all the affiliate links you have on your post.
  8. Click Update on the right-hand side and you will have all Pretty Links for your affiliate marketing!

Be sure to make the changes on the images you have linked too.

i know I've said this before, but it is worth reminding ourselves...

Every time we go back and make improvements to our posts, Google takes notice

and it improves our rankings. Not only do we make our posts look better, and serve our readers with improved content, but Google rewards us!

Quite a motivation, don't you think?

Hi Annie, Nice job. It is really much pretty after treating with the plugin. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Annie,

It sounds like the Pretty Links Plugin is easy to use. I've only been here 3 months, but I find I still struggle with adding affiliate links to my posts. I am hoping it gets easier for me with more practice.

Great! I want them too lol.

Thank you for sharing. It looks like a very effective tool.

Thanks for posting this, I have been using Pretty Links for years in an offline business, always work and I never seem to get any issues with them.
I have always used he free version (Pretty Link Lite) but I read somewhere on WA that it is now a chargable platform, I've not been asked to pay so not sure if this is correct. I do know you can pay for more functionality like most platforms but the free version suits me fine at the moment.

Thank you for this information.

Great information Annie! Thank you for the detailed description of how to create the pretty links. This is very helpful.
