My Kids Are Home!
I live in Guatemala. Here, school starts in January and ends in October. So guess what... My kids are home now! What's a work-at-home-mom wannabe to do? It's the season of play dates and sleep overs at my side of the world. I was thinking of putting them in "Escuelas de Vacaciones" (Vacation School) but we can't really commit because we will be hopping in and out of the hostel which is 2 hours away. Besides, my 13 yr old is sprouting wings and wants to fly around the nest already. He and his 10 yr old brother are constantly hanging out with kids in the neighborhood, taking their bikes to the nearby forest and playing soccer. I'm kinda loving the fact that we live in a gated community where people know each other and my kids are safe running around in the village. I sometimes get a call from a neighbor asking if Jake and Dave can join them for lunch or a sleep over.
The only set back? I cant advance on my WA courses as much as I want to. "Can we go to the mall?" or "Can you drive us to Wilder's house?" is the usual request I get. My husband is at work during the week (the kind that requires him to get dressed every morning.. smirk) so driving is my job. As well as making meals (for my boys and for whichever friends they've dragged in), making beds (my boys and whichever blow up mattress a friend is sleeping in), planning activities (one's that keep them outdoors away from my work space). My constant "Turn down the volume!" and their constant "Mom, I'm hungry" is sure bothering the neighbors, methinks.
Oh but I am loving it. Kids grow up so fast and soon my boys will fly away from our nest. So i am constantly taking pictures, making memories, savoring the time I have alone with my boys. My favorite time of the day is in the mornings, when both my boys crawl up my bed to wake me up, hug me, kiss me and say "Mom, I'm hungry".
(I tried to turn this picture around. I can do it on word press but for some reason, I can't find the rotate button on this blog post)

Thank you Shelia. Yes they do. Yesterday I saw my 13 yr old sneak away in his dad's gym shoes which by the way fit him so well. They grow up so fast it's scary.
Hi Ann what a lovely family you have . True make the most of your children they grow up so quickly . Even if you do a little bit each day you will make progress .

Thank you so much. I do try to WA as much as I can. My boys have 2 friends spending the night and this evening was too hectic to study. So I do it when everyone is asleep. It's past 1 am here... i should call it a night now. Thanks for your kind words.

Great post. I'm a stay at home Mom/ part time worker and I'm trying to balance the work thing with spending quality time with her. She's only 2, but already the time is going quickly.
