Considering your focus on parenting children with special needs, I could draw from the following experiences:

1. A very long time ago, I worked as a teacher and multimedia consultant offering music therapy and multimedia lessons for adults with disabilities. Children with special needs reach adulthood and find themselves in such places seeking all the fulfillments of life we all seek. They often take interesting journeys getting there.

2. In our family, we also had the experience of temporarily asking for support for special needs a long time ago, when our eldest was a toddler. She became near silent for a few years, and the numerous medical consultations and therapies we threw at the problem were exhausting.

Then suddenly, she was talking as if nothing had ever happened. She's now 18, and doing fabulously, but there was a time when we didn't know how things would work out! That's a story with many lessons attached - especially about how to ask for help, how to fight for your child, and how to stay the course.

...Have a think about what would best support the direction you're taking, and let me know. I'm certain there are other parents and educators here who could provide additional perspectives! I hope they won't be shy.
