Comments feature curiosity question

Hi,

First, I'd like to say that the tools of requesting comments and site feedback are just great!! Really helpful! I think this is one of the strongest reasons why I would strongly recommend Wealthy Affiliate to others.

However, I have a curiosity question. So... Each one needs to post 2 comments in order to get 1 comment. (you need to use 2 credits to request one comment). So where are all the "lost" comments going to?..

I'll give an example to explain my question: Let's say, theoretically, that there are only 3 members in WA. each one posts 2 comments, and gets to request only one. So on one hand, there are 6 comments posted (each member posts 2 comments), on the other hand there are only 3 comments posted (because each member gets only one in return). So how many comments are posted? 6 or 3? Where are the other 3 posted comments disappear?...
Are you confused as I am?

Thanks to the ones that will solve this mistery for me :)

Yes, you do not have to be called Einstein to figure out that system can not work. You get bonus comments when you are very active in the comment section:)

The 'lost' comments go to people who buy them or use their referral credits on them. So I have requested a ton of comments but have not given a comment in a long time. Sometimes you also get 3 comments when only requesting 2 for example.

Thank you! Can you please explain how is it possible to buy comments?

Thank you!!

I think I'm a little lost with this question but perhaps Im not understanding it properly

The tool of requesting comments is built in a way that you get one credit for one comment you give, but in order to request one comment, you need to spend 2 credits. At least this is how it's in my profile.
So if we have only 3 members in WA, and let's say one member gave 2 comments and got back one.
the second member also gave 2 comments and got one in return.
The third member gave 2 comments but didn't ask to get a comment in return.
So we have 6 comments given, and only 2 gotten. How can it be?? Where are the other 4 comments that were given? who got them??

Ah, ok now I got it.Thanks Anna.

Hi Anna,

If I take into the consideration “the 3 members within WA scenario”, my understanding is as following:

- if each of the members gives 2 comments then each of members gets 2 comments.

Or am I missing something here ? :)

Yes, the thing that you are missing is that each one needs to give two comments, but in return to these two comments, he can get only one.
The tool is built in a way that you get one credit for one comment you give, but in order to request one comment, you need to spend 2 credits.
At least this is the way this tool works in my profile...

Oh no Anna, you've unleashed one of DeBono's lateral thinking puzzles!

What happens if one of your three members offers more than two comments to your remaining two members, but asks for nothing in return?

What if furthermore, every member is expected to give more than they take? Will there be forward motion of activity in the community, or will there be stasis? :)

Nothing is really 'lost' I think.

The system is deliberately constructed to encourage movement, construction, and interaction between members that adds to the value of the membership. In a quid pro quo setup where you break even on transactional relationships, it can all get stuck in the mud very quickly.

Someone else may have a different interpretation to mine, but I think it's by design, to shape community activity. And it's great.

...I think it's so interesting that this question crossed your mind! You're fascinating.

I am definitely for giving more than I receive. I have no problem with this at all. I just wondered from the technical point of view... How the system spreads the comments.. .
and if someone gives comments, but asks nothing in return, its even more complicated!
So let's say one member gave 2 comments and got back one
the second member also gave 2 comments and got one
The third member gave 2 comments but didn't ask to get a comment in return.
So we have 6 comments given, and only 2 gotten. How can it be?? Where are the other 4 comments that were given? who got them??

This has me wondering if the system balances comments by pulling them out of thin air where there are none!

Josh from Oz just explained to me that the rest of the comments are going to people who don't earn credits by commenting but buying the credits for money. I didn't know about this possibility.

Aha! You buy the fill!!

You're never going to be in balance with this credit system. That's good game theory at work. :)
