Why I Use Fictional Characters in My Marketing Content

If you've read some of my content , you've probably noticed that I occasionally use fictional characters to explain marketing concepts. The inspiration came from a creative post by Pennlytics , where she matched marketing channels with characters from Off Campus . Instead of relying on technical definitions, Brooke Huckerby (founder of Pennlytics) used the personalities and character traits to make each concept easier to understand. As someone who loves both storytelling and marketing, I thought it wa a brilliant approach.

The reason I use characters is simple: People remember stories . Marketing terms like SEO, email marketing, content strategy and audience engagement can sometimes feel overwhelming , especially for beginners. But when those same ideas are connected to a character people know and love, they become much easier to remember.

To keep things organised and fun, I'll usually focus on one series a couple of weeks at a time. For example, over the next two weeks you might see me use Off Campus characters to explain different marketing concepts . After that, I may switch things up and dive into Teen Wolf , The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Smallville, or another favourite series of mine.

Each fictional world has its own leaders, strategists , heroes, and wild cards, making them perfect for explaining different marketing ideas from a fresh perspective.

Whether I am posting on Wealthy Affiliate or writing for my brand Signal & Strategies, my goal is the same: to make marketing easier to understand and a lot more enjoyable to learn.

After all, if Garrett Graham can explain PPC advertising one week, and Dean Winchester can explain content strategy the next, learning marketing suddenly becomes a lot more memorable.

Question: Which series should I tackle after I cover two weeks of Off Campus marketing content?
