What I’d Want My 12-Year-Old Cousin to Remember

Social media is fun.

TikTok is entertaining.

And there is nothing wrong with loving content.

But I would remind her of this:

Not everything trending is something you need.

Sometimes, things go viral because they are genuinely useful.

Sometimes they go viral because social media keeps showing them over and over.

Learning to notice the difference ? That is basically a marketing superpower.


The more I learn about social media marketing, the more I realise that younger generations are growing up surrounded by marketing that does not even look like marketing.

And honestly?

That makes it understanding it even more important . Because once you understand how social media influences what we watch, want , and buy. You start scrolling a little differently. Still enjoying the content , but noticing the strategy behind it too.
