My Journey So Far, 28 Days In

Hello to all my like-minded brothers and sisters of WA. A few days ago I had a minor meltdown. I say minor because, as expected, I survived emerging better for it.

My journey with WA started out as interest and intrigue from an ad I came across on Facebook, having no clue what affiliate marketing, internet marketing (IM), or even what "blogging" was. I did however recognize this as an opportunity to get some exercise as an aspiring writer, self-educate in the realm of technology (since technology is obviously not going away anytime soon and those who adapt, survive), and the long term potential of producing some semi-passive income. So these points hit my heart my head and my pocket. ;)

The Prelude

I did not realize at the time exactly what I was getting myself into. I did some research online, read several reviews on several companies and found there are several avenues that can be taken under the umbrella term of "Internet Marketing". WA came highly recommended on more than one site as their #1 for educating from the ground up. I also looked in to a company called AWOL Academy, which felt much more infomercial-y; and I found a guy who goes by Jay the Lazy Ass Stoner. Yes, he was entertaining and to the point, but his education was more quickly brushed over without much detail. Jay also seems like the type to put up 50 sites on a build 'em and forget 'em mentality and hope you hit something big.

The Beginning

WA offers your first 7 days for free with pretty much complete access. Cram in everything you can learn in 7 days and then decide if you want to continue with a paid membership. Good Deal! I flew through the first level of education, considering I had little time to apply, running a hair salon full time (average 50/hr/wk). It was easy, it was interesting, and a little addicting. I wanted more.

My next 30 days came at a bargain price of $20. Another Good Deal! I'm In! Then came level 2. . . .

The Struggle

Level two has 10 segments, and each segment has between 2-5 tasks to perform, guesstimating approximately 35+ tasks to complete level two (without doing the exact math). No Problem. this should just take a couple of weeks, all good. Hahahaha Nope!

I have been a paid member for 28 days today, working on WA for 5 weeks now. I grew through my biggest learning curves so far in level two. It took me twice as long as I thought it would, and I consider myself a pretty intelligent individual. I have to admit that there are days that this feels as care-free as Facebooking, and there are days this feels like full blown college homework (which was not at all what I was expecting).

However, I can say that with every issue that I run into, it may be frustrating, irritating, aggravating and down right maddening, but I learn. I have had to walk away a couple of times and close the computer before I broke it, but I have always calmed down and come back later and figured things out. Hence, completion of level two. :-D

The Conclusion

I have learned early in life that you must be very careful what you wish for because sometimes you get it, and everything that comes along with it that you weren't expecting.

It's been approximately 33 days into this journey at WA and I can tell you that I have learned a lot more than I was expecting to. I have learned what affiliate marketing is, and IM. I have learned what blogging is and how to build a website (which I have paid someone else to do previously). I have learned about other social media sites I have never heard of before, and how to work them. I have learned a few tips on being a better writer, and I have learned a whole lot about technology.

Have I gotten my moneys worth so far? Hell Yes! I have probably gotten close to 6 weeks worth of college education in 4 weeks time, at 3% of the cost. Has it paid out yet like it's been said it would? No, but it's only been 30 days for crying out loud, let's be real here.

My next 30 days will cost me about $50. I still consider that a bargain given the new perspective I have of what you get for your money (and the cost of other sites). I know I still have a lot to learn and the best part of all is there is no time pressure. Will I continue for the long haul? Definitely! And who knows, maybe this part-time pass-time learning curve that keeps me adapting and surviving in our changing society will have a payout in the end.

P.S.

I have done some research into several different IM sites (9 so far) and found that WA is the most socially acceptable for me. Several other sites have extreme rudeness and negativity in their threads and even profanity that I prefer not to hear, see or read. I feel it is a reflection of maturity and intelligence. Thank you members of WA for being so supportive, friendly, and mature.

Great post, very similar to my journey.
The hardest part for me is content, getting a few irritating moments myself :)
All the best on your journey Angie
