What causes bounce rates to go up and what can you do about it?
The bounce rate has to do with the attraction and RETENTION of visitors.
You have some control over this, of course; Make your content helpful, informative and almost above all else, entertaining!
This is done by being yourself and writing for people to read, not the search engine 'bots!
It means proper grammar, spelling and making your copy easy to read, based on the lowest possible complexity given your subject matter.
In other words, you cut down your bounce rate by keeping people there!

Hello, WMT is showing me I have 7 articles that are missing author and update. I have googled information to see how I can fix it but I don't even know where to go to fix it.
These are very common errors that almost every site experiences (mine included). They do not affect your rankings at all and shouldn't be of much concern.

I did some more digging around and saw the following blog post thread related to the problem you are having: How do you fix errors on google webmaster tools? Go through it carefully and refer to the link that @PatsyC shared within the comments. They might help.

Should I have "Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page" checked
Hi Angie,
They need to be off. Here is a blog post I wrote on it.
Make sure you check your pages and posts that they are not on. Making Sure Trackbacks And Pingbacks Are Off
