My First WA Post -Just Over a Month Here

This is officially my first WA post. I have been so overwhelmed and limited with my time that I had this on the back burner. I just thought I would leave a quick post about where I am in my journey. I am just a little over a month in now and have been working as much as possible on keeping up with the training, creating the layout and store, and writing my first few articles.

My Progress so Far

My progress at this point is basically that I have enough of a site up and running that I feel like I can start dedicating some time to promoting it and getting comments and posting it on some of my personal social media accounts. I have always been a perfectionist and until I feel like I have something I feel good about I have a hard time putting it out there. I am working on building confidence in my writing ability. It has always been something I've been insecure about.

My Niche

My niche that I'm working in is girls' clothing, books, toys, and accessories that are non-stereotypical. I plan on keeping the blog articles based around that as well as parenting and general lifestyle interests. I have set up an affiliate store as well as my blog.

My Successes

The successes I have had so far include being indexed in google and one of the keywords I targeted has me on page 3 of google. For another keyword, I am on page 6 for the same article. I am proud of myself for getting as much done as I have while working part-time and raising 2 little girls fulltime. I am probably the proudest of the fact that I am trying to overcome all my fears about writing.

My Goals

My biggest goal in the upcoming 3 months is to make $50 a month to cover my WA membership. I know I may not make money at first and this is a marathon, not a sprint but I honestly cannot afford it and need to work hard to generate traffic so I have a chance of making money. I plan to continue writing posts targeting keywords that I can rank in and utilizing social media to bring in as much traffic as possible.

My plans and goals in the upcoming 6 months are really the same as my 3-month ones. I do not expect to make a lot of money overnight but hope to cover my expenses as soon as possible. I would like to work hard to lay the groundwork for something that will be profitable in the future. I would love to be able to support myself and my girls while only working at my current job 2 days a week. I do not like relying on my partner and would like the freedom of being financially independent.

I would like to write at least 2 articles a week, in the evenings, and stop ignoring my poor children during the day while I spend every minute I can on my site. I feel like the more I write the better and easier it will get. I enjoy researching things and just need to get better at turning my research into well-written articles. I have a background in graphic design that is very rusty but I hope to be able to monetize printables and maybe even my own t-shirts someday.
