This is a marathon, not a sprint!

So today i completed my first 10km run as part of the Vitality London 10k event.

Normally this would have been held in central London with thousands of other people, but due to Covid restrictions, had to be run virtually with everyone running individually on their own local routes. This suited me, as i didn't have to get a train into London!

I took up running about a year ago, joining the free local parkrun. I knew a couple of friends that did it fairly regularly, and so gave me the motivation to get up every Saturday morning and go for a 5km run through the local Nature Reserve!

However, having not done much intense exercise for years, my calves didn't thank me for it, and i would be in agony for days afterwards!

Despite this, i really enjoyed the running, and the sense that i was doing something positive for my health (if not my calves!).

I also liked the fact that running with other people gave me the motivation to do it, as i would have easily given up there and then.

What's this got to do with setting up an online business you might ask?

Well, just writing this blog is something that doesn't come easy to me (not as painful as my calves were!), but the point is that trying anything new is a challenge in the beginning, but with help and encouragement from others, we can achieve our goals.

I've already found inspiring motivation from this community, which will hopefully lead to achieving great things, maybe not at first, but in the months ahead blogging and content writing will become just that less painful!

Next year i plan to run a half-marathon!
