How do I get rid of the empty white space around my content?

I wondered the same thing about a month ago and asked some friends at work who know more than me on this subject.
The answer was that the white space is there so your content can be adjusted easily to fit, for example, on my wide screen monitor, or a standard laptop screen, or a cell phone.
I tested this theory by accessing it with my work laptop, which has just about a square scree, and by accessing my website with my phone.
On my phone, there was no white area there at all, so I found the answer given to be reasonable. I also find the space being there to be reasonable, considering what it is there for.
I hope this helps!
I guess that makes sense. Ive only viewed my site on my laptop, didn't think about the fact that it would be different on an phone or tablet. Thanks. Following you now :)
All the best,
Andrew
