Or How to Dare!

I woke up in a dream the other morning. I was in the driver's seat of a Cadillac convertible just like this one 'cept on a country road. I was in the driver's seat but I couldn't lift my hands to the steering wheel. It was like they were strapped to my sides. They wouldn't move. And the car veered onto the grass and came to a stop.

It all seemed very Freudian. Surprise, Surprise. A car in a dream usually indicates something to do with how we control our lives. And I wasn't. It feels sometimes that I'm allowing the car to drive me to the point where I've abdicated my sense of personal power.

When I awoke the following morning I decided to follow one of Robert Moss's tools from his dream seminars, Conscious Dreaming. I re-entered the dream and this time I took control of the wheel.

When I did this the first thing that came to mind was to Dare. We've all heard the saying Dare to Dream.

The question that came was How do I dare? What's the process of daring? And then there was How Dare I? How dare I let go of control of the steering wheel of my life? How dare I give up the reins of my destiny and let the horse roam as he will.

What I got was DARE!

Articulate
Render
Execute

Decide

Deciding - making a decision. In Latin, it means to cut off.

When we take on a Dare, that's our focus. We cut off other distractions until the dare is complete.

And yet when we dare to dream we must follow that up with a plan because as the Antoine de Saint-Exupery saying goes: "A dream without a plan is just a wish".

A dare usually requires an immediate response especially if it comes from someone else. We be accountable to that person fro following through on the dare. When we dare ourselves we may be tempted to rationalize it away so we don't have to go through with it. Or perhaps we get distracted. I know that story.

Or perhaps we have an overarching dare. One that creates a summit to reach. A dare that won't be achieved on the day. A dare that could take months or even years to accomplish. What has been called in some circles - a BHAG! Big Hairy Audacious Goal. Like finding the Sasquatch.

The dare of a lifetime, a life changing dare. A dare that may have to be broken down into daily dares for ease of achievement and moving forward.

It's easy to dare ourselves into something that is easily accomplished like writing 500 -1000 words per day. Or less if that feels more comfortable. Beginning with a micro habit and letting it expand. I can definitely write 250 words and once they're written and if I feel more in me I continue until I reach a natural ending. For that passage anyway.

Decide what want you can do daily towards your G.O.D. - Grand Outstanding Dare or Dream. And just do it. Decide on the one thing that will move you forward and just do it.

Articulate

Articulate - to speak with clarity and coherence. We need to have this quality in our self-talk.

Become aware of your self talk - is it confident, coherent and clear? And what are you articulating. A plan for the achievement of your daily dare!

WHO
WHAT
WHEN
WHERE
HOW

This creates the code for accomplishing your dare. The idea that comes up for me here is the data put together to 3D print an item. The clearer the coding the better the result.

And what happens once the coding is complete. The operator begins to render the design.

Render

Render - to cause to be or become, to do, perform.

What happens when the operator renders the code? The computer begins to build a visual representation of the final product.

When you render your idare through why, who, what, when, where, how - you are visualizing your result, your outcome. What you're going to get when you execute your idare.

Execute

Execute - to carry out, to accomplish.

Yes. Make what was once a dare into something to which you can stake a claim. It could be an experience or even a physical something.

When you execute, you manifest a result. And then you begin the cycle all over again. Each day is an opportunity to dare. Commit to a daily dare. Build dare upon dare until your dare becomes your dream.
