I just received my first organic visit.. can someone properly define that for me?

Short answer - Organic means a person found you though googling and a post or page you wrote makes your site appear in the search results and they visit your site. It's a fancy term for what we are all supposed to be doing everyday with our blogs.

For a more in depth answer see below from a site called smart bug media. I did an search for the definition of organic traffic and this was in the search results up so you might say I found it organically...

Direct Traffic

Direct traffic is one of the most common sources of visits to your website. In HubSpot, this traffic is shown in blue, at the bottom of the sources bar graph. Direct traffic is defined as visits with no referring website. When a visitor follows a link from one website to another, the site of origin is considered the referrer. These sites can be search engines, social media, blogs, or other websites that have a link to another websites for visitors to follow. Direct traffic, however, categorizes visits that do not come from a referring URL. Often, these visitors manually enter the URL of the website or have it bookmarked. In many cases, direct traffic can be due to internal employees logging onto your company’s webpage or current customers going to your login screen. To keep this data clean, be sure to filter out internal IP addresses, so that any employee traffic is not counted towards traffic numbers.

Organic Traffic

Organic traffic is what most marketers strive to increase. This traffic is defined as visitors coming from a search engine, such as Google or Bing. One thing to note is that paid search ads are not counted in this category. In HubSpot and Google Analytics, paid search traffic or PPC is marked in a separate category. Organic search traffic is labeled in green on the sources graph in HubSpot and can give additional data into the actual search phrase that brought in your traffic. When looking at your analytics tool, you may see traffic labeled as “unknown” or “SSL”. This means that the search terms are being withheld from the data set. This is a result of Google not sharing this information, rather than the analytics platform you are using.

Organic traffic deals directly with SEO. The better you are ranking for competitive keywords, the more organic traffic will result. Websites that blog consistently will see a steady increase in organic search traffic and improved positioning in the search results. As a marketer, it is important to look at your keywords and identify new ranking opportunities each month. These should guide your blogging efforts.

The slider on my website looks great, but the link to view the respective post is off center... I haven't changed anything and I'm not sure why it is this way. Is there anythin

I just looked at your website. It's simular to the website of mine about diabetes. I weighed about 350 pounds about 5 years ago. Now I'm down to 250.

I am looking at your site and everything seems centered to me. Or is it that you wanted the text off to the side? For me the link to post of the week, Why Paleo and read more are right there in the middle. Maybe I'm not looking at what you want help with?

GREAT! It's probably just a browser issue then. Either that or this laptop.. I'm working on it today using my work laptop and not the one I usually use, so it's probably client-side then.

Thanks so much for taking time to check it out J!

All the best,
Andrew L.

Upon doing keyword research, I found a winner. There's an absolute wealth of people that I can reach, and I feel as if I can reach them better by making the domain name verbati

Games and Experts sound great as a domain name. I do not think it has to be grammatically correct.

If you are seeing a lot of search engine traffic then I think it's a no-brainer. Like JRMCD said you need to follow it up with great content. All the traffic in the world doesn't mean anything if that traffic doesn't click-through to your affiliate offer.

You will never know if you don't take action.

Don't worry about grammar, no one cares about grammar this is the internet

Barry

...I don't think a domain name needs to be grammatically correct - better short and apt. But I'm not sure what's "grammatically incorrect" about GamesAndExperts?

Yeah.. probably a poor example. The actually domain name I'm thinking about is a lot worse in terms of grammar...but it's heavily searched with low competition. So in the end, I think it'll get me where I want to go.

All the best,
Andrew L.

Hi Andrew, good idea it can only help with the keyword search, however in reality content is king, it will depend on what content you attach to the domain, who would think that "Google" is a search engine or the same with "Yahoo", seem like crazy names but look what happened.
All the best.
John

Very good point! I like that..it's true that Google probably was a random name, but now it's household. You've given me some confidence, I appreciate that.

Best of luck out there!
Andrew L.

Games and experts makes perfect sense!
Go for it!

Thanks for the support! Gotta just make moves instead of questioning.

All the best,
Andrew L.

LOL! You're welcome!

Hi Andrew.

Yes, some affiliate programs do not allow you to use certain keywords for PPC (pay per click). These restrictions DO NOT apply to normal SEO techniques.

Gary

Hey Gary,

So what you mean, is that I can still load out a page with keywords, and not be in violation of any possible commitment? From what I gather, the only violation would be paying for advertisement using those key words.

Thanks for the response!

Andrew L.

Yes that is correct Andrew
