Are You Ready For The Start of a New Week of Work
‘Twas the night before work…
It’s always difficult to come off a great weekend, especially a long weekend. That beautiful feeling of freedom and fun quickly dissipates as you approach the evening hours of the night before work. For me it’s usually about 4:00 pm when that feeling of “waaaaaaa….. just want one more day” creeps up.
You begin to make that list in your head:
- Why didn’t I go get the shopping done?
- I should have finished that load of laundry.
- I should have started those reports.
- Why do I always procrastinate. Why? Why? Why?
No matter what clutter of thoughts go through your “Back to work Blues” brain, know that you are not alone. Many of us experience this and actually 76 percent of people in a 2016 Monster survey reported suffering from the Back to Work Blues! Although this is a common experience, it doesn’t have to drag you down. Try these quick tips (seriously start right now with one):
- Organize your To Do List for the week and then try and complete one of them before you leave for work in the morning. Having the ambition to attend to the list, even for a moment, can give you that feeling of accomplishment. (I went into school for an hour today, just to reorganize a few things and even though I could have spent the night catching up, that feeling of “I got something done” was great).
- Have a nice relaxing shower. Having a shower before bed (just like when you were a young kid getting ready for bedtime) can give you a sense of peace and refreshment for a good night’s sleep. Especially if you use an essential oil boost of lavender.
- Set out your clothes,or the clothes of your loved ones, pack your lunch (or lunches) and be sure to put together your folder and bag of work goodies by your front door, ready and waiting!
The sense of accomplishment you will have in just doing a few simple things to prepare for the week ahead will be rewarding and you’ll be less stressed out.
