Buy A Domain Name From WA Or Elsewhere?
1/ What is the difference between buying your domain within WA and buying one elsewhere?
2/ I know that siterubix is a subdomain. But in what category do WA's domains fall into? Are they top level?
3/ If you buy a domain name elsewhere, do you pay any more money to then move it to here?
4/ If you do have any experience of this, how much on average would you pay on top of your domain?
5/ I have noticed some domains are very cheap (0.99) are these secondary level domains and if they are are they any good?

I was going to send you to a recent post from Kyle that explains the new SiteRubix feature, but he beat me to it. You've got the #1 guy's attention Andi ... that's pretty cool.
I love our SiteRubix portal. There are more incredibly useful features here than you will find any where else on the web and all this power is available to us as Premium members at no extra cost. And the best part is I totally expect K&C to keep adding new features to this portal as we go forward.
WA Domains is the most recent add-on. Before when I wanted to check the availability of a domain name I had to stop, open a new tab, click on and log into NC. Now with just one click I can do this. Very cool.
Yes, I was very pleased with the guidance I received from my question. I want my own domain name as I think you tend to get faster exposure and rankings. When I can afford it though.
Thanks for raising this discussion, I am about to complete Lesson 1 of Course 2 so very relevant for me. I will be purchasing my domain within WA because I have very little knowledge about domains so I will need the support from WA.
The WA domains work fantastic, and I like owning them and at 14.00 a year you can not go wrong.
I would have trouble trusting other places for domains.
We know the sort of quality Kyle and Carson provides, the evidence is there in front of us every day and they are constantly improving things for us. It's a great place to be.
And also, Mike you are a testament to the WA domains having already used them.
I can't wait to see the difference they might make to my websites.
Andi.
Me too, it's lack of funds for me - I need to work out how to funnel a load of referrals to sign up under me. That would be really great.
Andi.
I know what you mean. I was going to buy a domain name for my second website. I had to pay a financial charge on my credit card.

In response to your questions here.
1/ What is the difference between buying your domain within WA and buying one elsewhere?
You can learn more about the domain platform here on our website:
http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/domains
There definitely are a lot of differences.
2/ I know that siterubix is a subdomain. But in what category do WA's domains fall into? Are they top level?
Yes, those are free sites that you can create here and they are subdomains. You don't actually own the domain, but you are in full control of the content on your websites.
3/ If you buy a domain name elsewhere, do you pay any more money to then move it to here?
http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/domains
Will show you a comparison grid. Although on face value some domains will appear cheaper, they don't include much of what you need when you buy a domain.
4/ If you do have any experience of this, how much on average would you pay on top of your domain?
$14 max for a .com, with EVERYTHING included (private whois, email accounts, domain protection and next year guarantee pricing)
5/ I have noticed some domains are very cheap (0.99) are these secondary level domains and if they are are they any good?
They won't include many of the features and they will lock you into next year pricing that is $20-25 typically and try to sell you on a bunch of other upsells.
Superb Kyle, Thanks, that really hit the nail on the head for me and no doubt many others who will read this.
Andi.
Is this a part of the affiliate program?
it relates to both programs on WA Shakem9.
Andi.
Where can we find our affiliate links for this?
See the aeroplane icon on the top right bar - click on that and it will drop down a menu and one of those is links and tracking. It's in there. Click copy and paste but not too many, don't go too crazy. Strategic placing is they key.
Andi.
This was helpful -- thank you.
Thank-you Andi,
These were the questions going through my mind. I have not had a chance to review the links Kyle provided but I will. I am struggling to understand if you purchase a domain name on WA if you own it? I know that if you host a site on SiteRubix you do not own the name just the content. But if you purchase the domain through WA do you own that domain name? or should you purchase through another site such as Go Daddy? I thought that you owned the domain name when you purchase through WA.
Christine

Hi Christine, Yes you own that domain name if you purchase through Wealthy Affiliate - It is yours for keeps for as long as you want it.
