Has anyone created a custom audience and ad via Facebook?
I watched a webinar one day that led me to believe that all I had to do was collect a group of names with corresponding FB URLS, and FB would automatically create an ad targeted to this group.
Have you done this?
If so, can you give me some pointers? I'm a total luddite and not getting very far with this.
Thanks,
Andrea

I've no idea about the Facebook URL's to be honest, shall follow this one closely to find the answer to that myself as it would be handy to know.
I do know you can do it with your email list (it works a treat as well), you just upload the list and then only your subscribers (or they and their friends list if you prefer) can see it.
Frankly, I am finding FB to be a pain in my ass. I tried uploading an email list, then got a message about inserting some code into my web pages, which I have no idea how to do. AND i'm not even sure it's necessary. It got me so frustrated, that I quit trying. next time I have the patience I will look into "look-alike" audience lists. Meanwhile, if you know anything about that flipping' code and care to share, thanks in advance! Andrea
Andelane:
The "code" as you put it is called a FB pixel. It fires every time someone hits your website (regardless of which page).
This is useful for tracking "conversions", which you get to define.
Conversions can be anything from signing up to your newsletter, to making a purchase to going to a blog post.
Lets say you want people to go to your product review page with this address: mysite.com/product1. When you create your ad, you tell FB to record a hit each time someone lands on THAT page based on your ad.
This will allow you to see how much you are paying for each "hit" and just as importantly, over time FB will start sending more and more people like the ones that are responding to that page.
The "code" itself is placed just once within your theme to track everything on your site.
There's usually a place called "tracking" in your theme where you can place it. If not, there's a WP plugin called "Insert Headers and Footers" where you can copy the FB code.
Good luck.
P.S. FB is a great medium for advertising. It takes a bit to get the hang of it, but you can get very targeted and you only need to spend $5.00 per day to find out which ads, images, headlines and pages are working and which are not.
One of the campaigns I ran sent over 200 visitors to my website for a mere $5.00. That's a lot of potential right there depending on the audience you are targeting.
