Ever Used FB to make a customized list?
I found a bunch of names via Facebook that I think would make for a good target list. Just names. No email addresses, no phone numbers. Facebook says I can find their Facebook ID using an app on my Android? I have NO IDEA what they are talking about. I had heard that all I needed to do was give Facebook some names and THEY would match them up with Facebook account info. True? False? In between?

Hmm few things.. So as far as Facebook ID numbers go, they are just talking about the custom URL the user chose (if any) -- They all use to be just numbers at one point, then users were able to pick their own later down the line. You don't have to do this via Android. You can do it on the computer if you want. Just go to any page and look at the URL

Now as far as generating a target list. What are your goals with this? Or how are you going to generate the list in the first place? Just by names of people?

yes, so i found a famous person's site and this famous person wrote a little quip about my niche and I, along with over 2,000 of her followers commented. So I copied down the names of all the other people (who also commented) on an Excel spreadsheet.
The names happen to all be hyperlinked. WhenI click on each one, up pops the Facebook URL of the commenters' pages. So, I'm thinking I could click on each individual name, copy their URL and paste each URL beside its respective name on my Excel sheet?

Hehehe, yea.. that's all fine and dandy.. and a ton of work... but what's the goal of this? Be wary on how you spend time. Esp during tasks that you are doing. .
I am trying desperately to get traffic to my site. So that some day I'll get accepted to be an affiliate advertiser so that someday maybe I can make cash. Until now, my attempts at garnering traffic have all felt so very random...
I know the frustration. I'm only poking and prodding you, cause I just want you to understand that generating your own lists like you are doing is sketchy.
If you were compiling that list and then targeting all those people, you need to use caution on how you approach them. You said you weren't gathering emails so that's good. Because you simply can't just bulk email them. That's spam and a violation of their privacy. This is why marketers set up squeeze pages and landing pages to capture people emails by them choosing to sign up themselves.
Now, if you take that list you are making and just happen to reach out to them on their facebook.. You need to use caution again.
This brings me back to my point of.. Don't be wasting time doing something that isn't going to be worthwhile. Focus on the important things, like your site, content, and gaining traffic legit ways.
sigh. I keep writing and writing and my "SITE HEALTH" keeps giving me low ratings on volume of content. I got fed up and started concentrating on traffic instead. What is a squeeze page? ;-)
Don't worry about the "Site Health" much.. that's just a small indicator to show that you are working on your site. It's not very important at all.
As far as Squeeze Pages go.. Just type it in the search bar above. Try Landing Pages as well. There are countless topics on both subjects =)

Never thought of this. But it looks so tedious. There should be some easier way to customize your list. You might want to find out as this is so time-consuming. Cheers!
Yeah, I know. But I'm desperate. If you find a quicker way, do let me know. FB also has a feature that if you give them a list, they find a "look alike" list for all those names, based on their demographics… supposedly. So, if I ever finish this list, maybe I can double it on one fell swoop.
