Perfection in Stagnation
I have lots of ideas to create great things and make a positive impact in the world. My problem is that every time I want to take action I struggle with perfectionism. In my mind, it has to be perfect before I release it to the world. That's what had stopped me from getting started with my blog and online business.
Perfectionism is as bad as procrastination because it prevents us from moving forward, from getting things done, from achieving our goals. What I have learned from my experience with perfectionism is that overcoming it requires us to:
(1) accept the fact that a contribution doesn't have to be perfect for it to be useful and appreciated.
(2) acknowledge that, regardless of how good we are, we can always be better as we move forward and keep learning.
Therefore, I decided that I'd just write posts to the best of my ability and publish them without evaluating them based on my (very subjective) perfection criteria. Mind you, I still do lots of research before I write a post for my blog, but at least now I'm getting posts published.
I keep reminding myself that I can always write better posts with useful information for my readers as I move forward. This mindset has enabled me to publish a post every other day this week. My objective is to publish a post per day.
I now try to fully focus on the post I'm writing every day, with the goal of adding value to my readers, but without striving for perfection.
I hope you all are keeping perfectionism at bay and focusing on creating that wonderful content that will help our readers get the knowledge they need and our businesses grow.
