Be default, all sites should be HTTPS here on WA. Go to Websites > Site Manager and click on the Details button for your website. Make sure SSL/HTTPS is enabled.
If your site is still showing as insecure, reach out to Site Support and ask them to look into it.

Try this, you secure your website with SSL and redirect old URLs to HTTPS, then Get an SSL certificate, Redirect with .htaccess, Clean up insecure content, then Update tools and links that point to your site.

It’s definitely not a good idea to force someone to subscribe before they can continue. In my opinion, you should set the “Subscribe Now..” form in a natural way. You can choose which plugin you want here.

As for the theme, I like the theme you’re using now. You don’t have to buy a paid theme. Buy it when you’re ready. There’s no need to rush. I don’t really have a recommendation theme, though :-D
