“You just can’t beat the person who never gives up.” — Babe Ruth

Well, we did it friend. Today marks my 100th Anniversary of sorts… this is my 100th post on Wealthy Affiliate. (Now if I could only get that far on my own site! lol)

So, what exciting lesson do I have in store today? Should I write about the latest changes to Google’s algorithm? Might I cover the newest discoveries in website user experience (UX) design? Perhaps I should share some more of that graduate business school education that I spent so much money on and aren’t doing a damn thing with. :-)

No. That’s all great stuff, but I feel today's event should be about one thing: persistence.

It’s no small feat to bang out 100 articles of anything. While I haven’t bothered to add it all up — what’s the point? — given my usual average of around 1000(ish?) words or so, that’s approximately the size of a good fantasy novel. Not too shabby, is it?

And here’s the thing… you can do it, too.

The Number One Most Common Element

As you may know, I make it a habit of studying successful people. In fact, you might say that high achievement is a passion of mine. I am constantly striving to learn why one person is a success and another, in the same set of circumstances, is not.

It happens everywhere. You can see it on TV, or read about it in the news. Heck, you can even see it right in inside Wealthy Affiliate. We have members that have been here for a few months and are “successful”, and we also have members that have been here for a few years and are still scratching and clawing their way to the top.

But you know what you will never see here? The ones who gave up. The ones who quit WA too soon because “it” didn’t work. Here’s a news flash for those people: Wealthy Affiliate does work… it was YOU who didn’t.

You see, what I have discovered is that perhaps the number one most common element that successful people share is persistence.

Successful people simply refuse to quit. Tony Robbins once stated that successful people literally fail their way to the top and it is most definitely true. It is this Never-Give-Up attitude that is the defining feature of their life.

And it is certainly NOT easy. No one said it would be. But it is the people that keep going in spite of seemingly overwhelming odds that eventually make it.

Conclusion

So, I leave you with this. If you truly want to make it in the affiliate marketing business, to become a wealthy affiliate (Ha! See what I did there?), there is really only one thing holding you back from success. It’s not the training and support, although that is fantastic. It’s not the community, which is phenomenal. Heck, it’s not even your niche or your site.

No, the only thing holding you back from being a success is your persistence. Will you keep going regardless of the obstacles, no matter how hard it is, and despite how long it takes? If the answer is yes, then I promise you will be successful… it’s only a matter of when :-)

Hang in there. And please share your persistence story in the comments.

Happy writing.

P.S. Yes, I realize this post isn't the usual 1000 I bragged about. But this one factor is so important, I didn't want to "bury the lead" and risk it getting lost. Besides, I have an anniversary cake to get to. Take care and never, ever, EVER give up.

Thanks

I was trying to remember that quote earlier today, or one very similar and there it is, love it when that happens. Once you have accepted the premise, it's actually quite liberating and allows us to forge ahead, letting nothing stop us. Congratulations on your centenary AJ.

Thank you

Congrats! Great advice from someone who's really doing it.

Thank you.

AJ,

Been a while since I have been replying to posts here at WA.
But congratulations on your 100th post great job!

And you are correct, it is only those that give up or quit
whichever way you put it that causes their failure. This
works as Jay would say "follow the process"!

Thanks for sharing,
Susan

Jay is a genius :-)

Congrats on your 100th post. Great job!

Thanks

Congrats on the 100th. That's a great accomplishment and you should be excited. You are so right...persistence is the only thing that will stick.
Joe

Thank you.

Happy 100! My own story: I just keep on keeping on.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing :-)

Happy Anniversary :-) Keep up with the great posts!

Thank you

Persistence is definitely an important factor in success. I put an article on persistence in my blog...we all need to learn to hang in there, even when the going gets rough. I'm a living example...still hanging on, working and hoping for a breakthrough. It will come.

Thanks

This has always been one of the main mantras! PERSISTENCE! Years ago when selling insurance we had seminars that drove home persistence and also consistency leading towards much success in sales.
Consistency if accurate will drive us up the ladder quicker and in solid shape to scale up even further.
Congrats on the 100th post!
Bill

Thank you
