Just Getting Started

I am an experienced woman of diverse interests and commitments (nice way of saying "older"). It's time to simplify and find some quality of life rather than an endless web of commitments and responsibilities. I've attempted numerous forms of employment and self-employment and found that often I was just flushing money down someone else's toilet and they were making a substantial income/living off of my efforts. My hard work was paying off, but for someone else.

After over a decade in State Government my husband was transferred with the military and I had to walk away from that job. I struggled finding a position I enjoyed and met our financial needs after that. After a lot of expense and training, I worked a few years as a massage therapist for a few years. I tore my rotator cuff and had to give that up. I found a position working with a great company in the medical field and the partnership split so I was looking again. Integrity and hard work doesn't seem to be a standard that is valued anymore. I'm secure in knowing I've added value everywhere I've worked and always strive to leave a position (whether paid or volunteer) better than I found it. These traits don't seemed to be valued by employers anymore. I'll have to change my focus and reset my efforts.

I have dreams of having enough time and resources to help others in some way and pray I'll be led in the right direction to put my passion to work. Could this possibly be it? Will I have more time and be financially able to pursue this dream?
