You can download your current version of your theme via FTP if you want to preserve the old version in case you need to revert back to it. Themes are in the WP-Content folder.

Themes rarely change drastically from version to version, so you'll be fine as far as design goes, but Kat below is right that updating themes will delete any code changes you made (without a child theme).

You could create a new SiteRubix subdomain and install the latest version of your theme on that to see if it's going to make any differences. Usually all that's lost when updating a theme would be any changes you've made in the Editor such as verifying your website with Google. ~Marion

Any codings that you have made which are not in the original theme i.e. for instance If you have changed the footer all these changes with you will lose when you update. I will make a training video today about how to convert your theme into a child theme. This preserves all the code that you have made in the update. So for now just backup and I will let you know here later today when I made the training

I have never heard about website layouts changing, I UPDATE all of mine and nothing has messed up. Go ahead and update.

Hi, I had this problem too, but you can fix it by going to your Astore page on your dashboard. Look on the right-hand side, it should have a choice to remove widget from that page. If not, I'm not sure how you would remove it. Good luck, hope this helped! Peggy

On my theme there is a way to do what you're asking. Check yours for this option. Go to 'make a new post'. On the right of the page there is a pull down that says 'use default' or standard. If you use the drop down it allows you to select 'wide' which removes the sidebar.
In the 'general settings there is a place to select 'standard' or 'wide' as the default for all pages.

Backing up to Dropbox can become an issue if your site gets too big. Try running a manual backup and see if it runs without an issue.

I am not against Adsense. However, remember that when someone clicks on an ad they are taken away from your website and they could be gone for good. You will have to evaluate whether the few cents or dollar you get for the click is worth it.

People using the internet have become much more savvy these days and there is something known as ad blindness where people are simply not even acknowledging advertising anymore.

Adsense should not really be looked at as supplementing your income for your website because of the fact of losing potential opportunities to either capture that traffic onto your email list or selling them outright. It should really be a strategy in and of itself. Whether that is a good one you will need to test to find out.

Sure, Adsense could definitely add to your site, I think you should definitely add some.

Back links can help, but "backlink building" can get you in serious trouble if you get links from spammy places. It can easily become your focus.

People talk about backlinks all the time because they want to believe that there's something more to boost their rank. But it's like a drug. The first one maybe helps. The 2nd one helps less. Pretty soon you're running backlinks software getting hundreds a day (I did it back in the day and it ruined one of my websites).

If you do seek out backlinks, I'd do it by reaching out to others in your niche through guest posting. But to do that, you need to build somewhat of a rep in your niche. Even then, I think you'll benefit more from trading audiences with players in your niche rather than just the 1 link.

Social media shares also count as backlinkins, although a differnet kind, so by sharing on social media you are also getting links, PLUS doing outreach, so folks can link to you naturally.

NATURAL links is the key. If you aren't confident you can replicate the natural linking process (and don't believe anyone that says they can do it for $19.95), then I would avoid backlinking "Building".

Credible backlinks that pertain to your own niche is very good for your site. Just do not use the paid for ones because they are mostly bots and that would be detrimental to your site.
