I wanted to post this just to have my progress archived. I've enjoyed reading successful marketers blogs that started back from their very beginning, to see how they progressed. I'd like to be able to help others in the same way, once I get to be successful.

So at this point I've put my first site on pause, and I started my second site. My new site is in a niche I'm much more passionate about. It's basically a review and 'best of' type of site, but also has detailed how-to guides that I create while actually doing what the post is about. I use a lot of pictures for illustration of my how-to guides. Eventually, I think I may start doing videos too.

I've got 49 published posts, and a couple of content-based pages. Most keywords I go after get between 50 and 200 searches per month.

I'm doing reviews on individual products, then I will be writing more 'best of' posts, which will link to the individual item reviews as they are compared in the 'best of' content. This is how I've found the really successful 'best of' sites are structured.

I've outsourced a few articles, but the quality is not what I wanted, so I'm putting that on hold for now. I'd like to outsource a lot more, but first I need to make sure I know what it is I want my writers to publish. Then I can give more detailed instructions and get better content. Until I see what actually starts ranking, I can't really make that call.
So far I've got 1 decent keyword on page 1, 5 on page 2, and 5 on page 3. This domain is less than 3 months old.

I'm expecting to see some better results in the coming 3 months as my domain ages. I'm putting as much time as I can into this site, considerring I work full time, have 3 kids, and we're in the middle of trying to sell our house.

I'll be working hard and analyzing my results as pages start to rank. Some posts are structured differently, and have different types of links. So I'll compare these details, as well as the Jaaxy statistics of each keyword. This way I'll hopefully be able to really see what I'm doing right, and then I can do more of it.
