???? Update & Big Thank You to the WA Community – JSON Post Error FIXED!
Hey WA Family,
Just wanted to circle back and give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who chimed in and helped out when I posted about the weird WordPress error on my site, nostalgianookantiques.com.
✅ Problem: Every time I tried to publish or update a post, I’d get the dreaded “Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response” error.
😬 Tried troubleshooting it myself. No luck.
🚫 WA support wasn’t responding directly, so I reached out to the community — and I’m so glad I did.
🧩 What Caused It?
With help from WP Buffs and some smart advice from WA members, we finally narrowed it down.
Turns out the culprit was the Hummingbird Pro plugin. Once it was disabled, everything started working again instantly — no more timeouts, no more errors.
Apparently, the plugin was causing a conflict or timing out when saving posts. The moment it was turned off, I was able to update content like normal.
🙏 Who I Want to Thank
- Meina – Your tip on finding the FTP credentials myself saved me a major headache.
- Peter and others – Appreciate the support and encouragement.
- The entire WA community – You reminded me what makes this platform special: we help each other.
💡 Final Thought
If you’re running into the JSON update error on your WordPress site, try disabling performance or caching plugins like Hummingbird Pro. It could be the quick fix you need.
Feel free to reach out if you're running into anything similar. I’m happy to share more about how we got through it!
Thanks again, folks — you came through like champs.
Best,
Dean

Sadly about 85-90% of issues a WordPress blog will face is from a error in a plugin, usually the culprit has not been updated in 3-4 recent core updates and is obsolete, some just don't congeal with the WA system, in this case a caching plugin running along side an already cached website send up errors because 2 plugins are doing the same job.
