The Social Marketing trap

The Social Marketing trap is large and waiting to swallow you up if you don't exercise restraint and common sense. I used to spend a lot of time on facebook just checking out what everybody was doing and posting and looking at new things on Pinterest. I guess that's ok during your off time if that's the way you want to spend it, but if your operating an online business you need to be careful not to be distracted by all of that. I am a person that likes organization and schedules. I have found in life that this is the way that I am the most productive. I like to keep a check list and check things off, it makes me feel like I am getting a lot accomplished. So this is what I have decided to do, I will set aside certain times to deal with social marketing from a business standpoint, no more social engagement on a personal level during my work day. I can see that the added time would be well spent in content creation that will get shared on the social networks whether I share them myself or not. I do intend to share all of my posts on social networks, but I am no longer going to be sidetracked by commenting on the 500 posts per day by all of my facebook friends. I will save that for my leisure time if I so desire to do that. So, if you are falling into that trap beware my friend, because it will waste more of your time than you ever wanted it to.
