Social Media Panic
I'm now entering the phase of training that will be my biggest challenge: Social Media. I've always been a private person and when the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. bandwagons started some time ago I didn't jump on with everyone. I was probably in my 60s then and I thought all this was for the young people.
Since I was in Real Estate I was directed to open a Facebook account and possibly an Instagram account. I connected mostly with friends and relatives but didn't actively participate. I got notified when anybody posted pictures of the kids, funny videos and jokes. I would look at them and occasionally would give a "thumbs up" or a comment but very would seldom post anything myself. I still can't understand why people post pictures of food while they are at a restaurant.
As far as Tweeting goes I'm lost. I still don't know what a # means.
The lesson that I'm on now instructed me to set up a Google+ account. I had to google it to find out what it was. Lo and behold I had an account and didn't even know it. Now I'll have to learn how to use it. As a side note I will admit that Google and YouTube are probably the two greatest inventions ever. I'm not sure how I survived years ago without them.
Please be patient with me. I'm 73 and it is going to take me awhile to get up to speed. I'm finding that much of terminology used at WA is new to me and I spend a lot of time trying to learn what is common knowledge to everyone else. As an example, I've spent the last half hour trying to save the picture I imported for the top of this blog. If it becomes blank after I hit the publish button, please note that I tried.
Thanks,
Dave
