2 month progress report

Well it's been a busy and very frustrating two months for me. I finally got my first website up and running ( clicklockflooringtips.com ). Since I haven't ever written a blog I decided for my first website I'd better write about something that I was familiar with. I just installed new floors in my home so it was easy for me to put the process into words. Hopefully it will someday be a benefit to some do-it-yourselfer.

I figured my first site may not be a money maker but I just wanted to go through the process and get one up and running hoping the following projects would be much easier. I haven't even monetized the site yet; I thought that I would wait until it got ranked before I see if I can make any money. I started with it as one long blog post than I decided to break it down to four separate posts. I guess tweaking it will be an ongoing process.

I thought that I was fairly computer-literate but quickly found out that I had a lot to learn. I spent hours doing things to the site that should have taken me minutes. I was constantly Googling Wordpress, SEO and site development terminology so that I could understand what I was doing. I watched many WA training videos and YouTube videos. I have to thank many WA members and Site Support for their help. Sometimes I felt like I was being a pest.

I'm near the end of Level 2 training. I often neglected it while I was working on my website. This blog is part of the training. I am enjoying the interaction with WA members. I've always been very private and am trying to come out of my shell. Many of the members that I have communicated with are from Europe, Asia and the Southern Pacific which amazes me how widespread WA is. Also I've met many members that are in my age group (70s) which gives me hope that I can be successful at this.

While I'm waiting for my web site to get ranked I'm going to finish the formal training and start looking for some good niches so that I can begin making some money. Hopefully I've learned enough to make future site development a little easier. With the amount of training videos and blogs available I think it will be an ongoing process.

Again, I would like to thank everyone that helped me. Hopefully I will get to the point where I can begin helping others.

Dave
