I'm finally sold on the value of Wealthy Affiliate.
So this might seem like a bizarre post sitting amidst all of the WA rah rah posts we see here.
But the truth of the matter is it's taken me a little over half of my annual subscription to feel the value is worth the price.
And I say this as someone who very much wanted to see it this way right out of the gate. I had big plans for making it an integral part of my website.
But as I poked around, there were some things that felt off (and honestly some still do).
Enough so that I questioned whether I could honestly recommend this to others given my own impressions. I view my blog as an extension of myself, of my own credibility.
I'm sure some of you may be wondering what impressions led me to not being sold. I won't go into to much detail on that, but will say this.
I do think there are a lot of egos that overplay their hands. I also am often left baffled when I answer someone's question and then get notified others went to the same question and answered the same exact thing I said.
Often made even more bizarre when they have been upvoted already on their comment that is only a moment or two old.
I notice that as well, when folks comment on my post and I see it almost immediately and by the time I get there it already has an upvote (it really baffles me when it has two upvotes almost immediately).
There are many more things, but they are what they are and no structure is perfect and the larger the crowd the more diversity involved.
So what sold me?
It isn't because I'm raking in all of those fat affiliate commissions yet, hah hah. My site is still a major work in progress, but that is MY FAULT.
So in the last segment I mentioned some really bizarre narcissistic (borderline cult like) behavior. But in contrast to that I see much more selfless sharing here.
And not just from the official trainers, although I'll get to them in a moment.
I mean from seasoned veterans who have been there done that and have the commissions to show for it.
I find that many times per week I'm learning things I didn't even know was a thing.
Other ideas I'm encountering often enough I'm beginning to think in those terms, if that makes sense. Kind of like immersing yourself in a foreign language and one day you realize you understand something someone said.
I've tried making an effort these last few months on attending some of the live classes. Not all of them being equal, but I've been shown some quality structures and how to step by step instructions.
I'm going to be blunt when I say after my first month I questioned my investment here. A question I've held until about 4-6 weeks ago.
However, I feel now that my investment here has been worth it, even if it didn't still have a little over 5 months left and were to end today.
I now feel I can recommend WA to others as I can see its benefit personally.
I appreciate those of you here who have taken the time to answer my questions, who have shared with the community from the depths of your experience.
Much of the value here comes from my fellow members and I appreciate the value you give to me.
I also want to give a shout out to my two favorite trainers here, Eric Cantu and Roope Kiuttu.
And of course the dynamic duo Partha and Diane.
I don't wish to get carpal tunnel so don't fret if you weren't named personally. Or be thankful you weren't if you were one of those I was alluding to in the first segment of my post, hah hah.
So thought I would share I'm sold now on the system.

Glad to hear you are happy with your investment. I have been here for 7 years now and agree that some people focus more on getting attention in here instead of building their business. But that is their choice, and luckily there are many really knowledgeable and great people here that provide a lot of value based on real success.
I just focus on what I can do to move my business forward, and the training and the tools in here are the best value possible in the internet marketing space. I have tested A LOT of different money-making methods and have yet to come across a platform that offers this much value for this low a price and where the owners actually still participate.
I just ignore the people that are just here to get attention as that just distracts me, and then focus on the quality and on moving forward and do what I can do, and that is what has helped me now reach a very good online income that my whole family can live from.
There are a ton of experienced folks here who share so much. After I realized the follow list had no practical purpose, I converted mine to mostly folks who have shared their experience and use it as a learning tool now.
I appreciate your edification of the system, and that it has led you to an income that has been life changing for you and your family. I believe in the power of association and it's voices such as yours that needs to be heard here.
In my time here, I've encountered many who like yourself have also been here for many years. They will gush about how great the system is, then concede that after all of these years they have never made one penny.
From my shoes that would be a dismal failure, either of the system, myself or both. While I've met many fine people here, I'm not here to pay 40+ dollars a month to have online friends, I need to make a life change. Now if that is something that makes others happy then no harm no foul, but it's not (in my eyes) a solid endorsement of the system.
So we need more examples such as you have showing the fruit can be plentiful using this system.
I appreciate you took time from your schedule to read this and respond. It's just such a gesture that reinforces the shift in my perception here a month or so ago.

I also came here to build a business and not just to hang out, so understand your point:-) And I must admit that it would probably be good if I and others were better at sharing our results. Luckily some successful members share their results, but there are also many of us that are too busy with our business or just do not like to share our actual results. I will try to get better at sharing some results once in a while, but I must admit I prefer just focusing on my business and my life and do not like showing results publicly:-) But will try to share some info soon as it is a good point you have that members need to hear some success stories about income regularly also.

There will always be different personalities on a platform this size, that is to be expected in my opinion!
It does bug me though when I see a question being answered in exactly the same way as many have answered before... what's the point??

Yeah, the same answer later still stops me, especially if my own still has no upvote and theirs that was just left has one or two votes and the ink is still wet, hah hah. I'm guessing it is chasing the ranking that is the purpose. Which really calls into question the factors of ranking if they can be gamed so obviously.
I can be difficult myself I know. My mom used to tell me I would cut my nose off to spite my face when I was a child.
But one thing I really dislike is arrogance when there is no need for it, just to score points with the crowd. I guarantee in the physical world this wouldn't happen as I see it happen here.
I dislike very much when others have a deficiency in their personality to such a degree they feel they need to push another down to make themselves look higher. So unnecessary, especially when they already held a higher position due to their knowledge.

I am glad you feel sold about WA. There are some pitfalls and drawbacks to this platform.
Especially with the questions, I’ve shied away from them recently because it's been nothing of a distraction and fierce competition of who will be the first. Then everyone jumped in, providing the same answers that Diane, you, and I gave.
The only thing is no one can replicate Partha’s long, drawn-out explanations! Haha! He is very unique in his answers.
We have diverse personalities. It's human nature to have some egotistical characters. Some are blunt and outspoken like you and I are. Then some people instead remain quiet and reflective. It's just their personalities.
The best focus, in my blunt, honest opinion, is to stick to the expert classes. Learn from them and apply them to your business. The goal is to help you grow your online business through different media. That is the utmost priority everything else is a distraction.
I will do some comments on some blog post in order to stay active. The main thing is I learned from the classes that should my focus. I know you are doing that. Keep going, Jason! Keep learning.

You are for sure right on Partha. I keep meaning to set some time aside so I can copy his blog and make my own PDF resource book out of it.
Another one since I'm back in edification mode is Benjis dad. I was on YouTube a couple of months ago watching blogging videos and came across him in the recommended section. He has quite an extensive video how to section there that I also keep meaning to sift through more of.
I'm hopeful that in the coming weeks I'll feel a little better and can ramp up my writing.
Definitely need to keep focusing on the classes. Just the other week in one of the classes it was discussed on the PPC sites not worrying about Google at all, and having several of the same post for testing ads and such. It had never occurred to me one would have a site where Google was disregarded or that one could have the same post multiple times for testing. A light bulb went off for sure on that one.
