Power of intention
In the past, I remember spending countless hours trying to get teachers and doctors to teach my child how to walk through physical therapy at school and after-school therapy programs. Now with the encouragement from great friends here in Trinidad and Tobago, Malika is taking steps everyday towards walking.
What is the definition of intention? I recall listening to Dr. Wayne W. Dyer explain intention as a strong purpose or aim, accompanied by a determination to produced a desired result. I am driven by intention because I have a strong will that will not permit anything to interfere with achieving my inner desire. I have a never-give-up attitude combined with an internal picture that propels me toward fulfilling my dream of having my daughter, Malika walk by December 2016.
I had an instant awakening! Dr. Wayne W. Dyer describes this awakening as Satori. When a baby starts to walk, do you put shoes on the baby to walk or do you let the baby walk barefoot? Malika was always sitting up or laying down. When I tried to help her walk, I would use her leg braces and shoes as recommended by physical therapists and doctors. I decided that for Malika to walk, she needed to be grounded. I took off the leg braces and shoes, and only used leg wraps to support Malika’s standing and walking. Malika cried every morning and every afternoon because she started to use muscles that she never used before. In two weeks of learning to walk, Malika outgrew her size 8 shoes that she had been wearing for two years! Malika’s feet are fatter because of the muscles that have developed, and they are no longer narrow and bony. She is learning to balance her body and she is now grounded.
My intentions for Malika is that her mind transcends limitations, her consciousness expands in every direction, and she finds herself in a new, great wonderful world. As Patanjali once said, “ Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater version by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be”.
