The Day I Forgot My Name

Not Because I had dementia, not at all. It was all because of the guy with whom I was conversing; he was just too funny. He made me laugh until tears rolled down my cheeks. In my trans, he called me both Bernard and John in the same sentence. And in an attempt to correct him, I hurriedly said: "I'm John!" but quickly pointed out that my name was not but was… Joe!
But come to think of this thing called name, is it so important? After all, is it not only valid while we're alive on earth helping us to identify this dust or mortal body we carry about? So that we can formerly distinguish our physical presence from others, especially from our namesakes whose roll call can form an endless list? The reason why today we can hear names like Ann, Mary, Marcus, Linda, Steven, Nicholas, Theresa, Melissa, Phil, Karl, Kyle (not our Kyle but a namesake lol!), and in fact, a long and very long and endless list of names.
A list is temporary once we cross over to the other side because we have to deal with the spiritual. Guess what, and the spirit would start to deal with spiritual things! But our maker would call us with our original names! Sad that I don't have a clue about that day. Talk less of the name that is waiting for me. Maybe before that day comes, I might have sent a letter to many of my relatives over there and get feedback that could help me prepare for the "D" day, especially to my beloved grandmother.
