Sliders

Hi WA! I am new around here. I have learned about a lot of stuff about creating a website in such a short time, and still have a long way to go.

I am thinking on adding a slider into my website homepage and I have look for a little bit of info on google about them. It seems that a lot of people doesn't favored them. Some say it hurt your page loading (something I am going to be looking very closely if I add it) others say that is bad for SEO. Don't know what to believe.

I think that the problem is not the slider but the way it is implemented. I agree of being a bad marketing practice to add a lot of different products to a slideshow and try to convert from it. As long as I have searched people is more likely ignoring them or just taken action only in the first picture.

In my case is a little bit different. My website is going to be about holidays rentals and I am going to be using the slider to showcase the beauty of the beaches, pools and surrounding areas. Just want to attract the attention of the people and inciting them into digging more on the site.

Just want to know your opinion about the matter, maybe I am missing something in here.

Thank You all in advance and best wishes.

Jean

Very distracting for the reader.

I personally find them distracting, especially if you are trying to look at something and it then changes into another pic. Maybe that's just me...

It can hurt load times unless the photos are available in your media (i.e., remote loading slows things down) and your images have not been optimized (72dpi resolution, .jpg, etc.)
