Email capturing is the first step in email marketing. I'm just using the free plan to capture the email addresses before sending updates maybe via mailchimp.
Today I googled "free email capture" and found Mailmunch.

I can customize just one opt in form, which is good for me for now. I can customize my message, behavior of the pop up, and thank you message.
I'm a housewife, so paying anything on a monthly basis on top of my WA membership is tough for me. The USD to SGD exchange rate doesn't help either.
So this will probably have to do for now!

Without the plugin, you need to insert some code in your site template.
I saved myself the trouble by downloading the plugin. If I don't want to use it anymore in future, I don't have to do anything to my template.
