Other Websites Point Towards My Website,ha???
Yesterday I was playing around in Bing Webmaster and I noticed that there is 28 Inbound Links. Links that point towards my website, but no more information as to what websites. A little further down there is "Target Page" My Website and "Count of Links" 7. The number 7 I can click and it list all 7 websites that point towards my website. Sure enough all 7 websites have at least one link that lead to my website. I never visited any of those sites or posted a link for that matter. Why would anybody link to my website without getting anything in return, the other thing........it takes some effort to write an article, insert a link and publish that. I mean somebody used a whole page of website real estate to advertise my website. Pretty much the same what I do, but my goal is to advertise and link to WA and eventually gain a financial reward for doing so. But what is it that other sites that point towards my site gain??? None of those sites is getting affiliate money from me, I'm not affiliated with them in any way although I have relationships with those sites now I did not ask for. Anybody here in the WA community know what's going on??? I'm just curious since I never had my own website and therefore don't have experience with that. Thanks for reading and your feedback.

Now this guy has a link to his site for providing useful content!!! I guess it's as simple as that! :)

I would think someone visited your site and somehow got connected, or what Duuski said. Word of mouth, so to speak.
Well, somehow something happened. The thing is my website is not even in the top 20 on google yet 28 links point to my site 7 of which I can actually look at and see how they promote my site. I mean it's great that my site is out there, I just didn't get the idea as to why others would do that. Thanks to this great community I got answers rather swift. Have you left comments on those sites? They commenting on yours? Its usually a good thing seeing your site become connected with others.
Well funny enough neither them nor I did any commenting. That's what confuses me, suddenly my webpage is out there.

Hi Dan, Interesting topic. I was humming and haring over whether or not put links on my site to other websites with useful information. Like you say, I don't get anything out of it so why should I do it?
Its about providing good service! Helping people connect with the right information.. imagine you owned a hire business and someone came in for an item you did not stock, instead of saying, sorry, cant help you. You give them the name and details of a business who can!!--- and make a plan to get the item in stock for the next customer ofcourse..
Its not always all about the money for some. Its about helping those in the trenches with you.
