did you know about this Backlinks Opportunity on your profile page?

Hi followers, and other people,

I just read a blog post by CowboyJames here on WA, where he said that you can add your websites to your profile page.

On the bottom right of your profile page, you can add your (main) websites.

That's a free extra link to your site.

Remember, google indexes your WA profile and blog posts, so you will get an extra backlink to your website.

Make use of this, and spread the word!

I'd be happy to get comments on other opportunities here on WA.

Cheers!

Wouter

Thank you. That's good to know.

You are just fine!
Thank you so much for such a nice tip. In this huge flow of information, not all notice, and not at all paying attention!

Thanks for sharing, Wouter.

Thank ypu. Interesting.

Yes. I found that a few weeks ago, where it says, "Follow me on:"

It is a good way for your network to become more knowledgeable by looking at someone else's website. And if you have questions, it's an easy way to direct someone to your website for help.

Deb.

exactly! that's where I meant, and Exactly! That's what you can use it for ;-)

Thanks for the post

basically it's your post :-) Just sharing the information I got from you !

I understand better what a backlink is. Thanks for posting!

Hi Wouter, I used to have mine listed there along with social media but removed everything a couple months ago.

I had my website attacked with malicious spam for weeks from members, I couldn't touch it. Theft of content happens also.

There are many members who won't post them there to protect it. With 1.2 million members we have to be careful.

sounds smart to me patsy...I worry about the same things...I kind of want to keep in the shadow's for a bit...:)

Hi Patsy, that's terrible to hear. I also read about your past with theft in your blogs. That's one thing to be happy about, being a newbie: we have no traction interesting enough for people to copy or spam ;-)

Can you tell me how the website attack by spamming works though? Does that happen by WA members who are in the same niche, and want to bring you down so they can go 'up'?

Doesn't that also happen when your site is online, 'out there', to be found by competitors with malicious intent?
I mean, if your link is here or not, your site is online anyway. I fail to see why that would make any difference in getting attacked.

Hi EchoLilly, don't you actually want your site to be 'out there' ? So every link counts?
Maybe I'm naive though and overlooking something..

I do want it out there, but I want it to be the way I want it to be before I get attention drawn to it...I am kind of a perfectionist with my work..:)

Hi Lilly, yeah, I get that... I was like that too, but then I adopted a new point of view:

Even though my site isn't perfect, it might still attract someone, and might help them. I might even make some money.

Perhaps these people will be scared off because my site looks crappy.
Perhaps google will not rank me because my site is too small.

BUT, I also think that the people that are coming to my site now are probably not the same people that come to my site in a month time. So, why wait attracting people. If I wait, I might lose out on a few visitors that may never return.

Also, I think that if my site starts ranking now, it will rank faster when I do get decent content on it. I'm not sure if this is true, but it gives me a sense of doing the right thing hahaha

Hi Cassandra, we are exposed when our traffic starts to come in so that's going to be enough.

As I have posted and shared how my content and images were taken without permission from a referral I saw on Google Analytics. She is still checking out my website and I'm dealing with this right now.

Shortly after I first joined is when my website got spammed badly. I had no traffic at all yet. They were not in the same niche and was done by several of them. It also happened to other members at the same time. They posted it.

I'm still new, and don't know how they know to send your website to other places, and they redirect our URL like they did with mine to massage parlours, sex websites, comments about how to use and cover up the scent of marijuana, stuff like that. I don't know how they redirected it. So I contacted Google's help for what they call this as 'misbehaving' and after a couple of weeks it was all gone. I had to send them the URLs for these sex websites etc..

Of course it happens once we get traffic and are 'out there'.

I have read enough from other members here how they caught other members using their work.

New members go after me for my website because they can't think of a niche and don't know how to write content. Follow the lessons like I did! this is how I learned.

I had enough experiences with this to not want to add my website for viewing, they can view someone else's.
I am currently dealing with what happened to me still and that's enough.

Hello Wouter, yes you can list all your social media links there. It is also a way of spamming the other members by placing your URL in blogs here.

It's good to have it posted here in WA so the community can visit it and have suggestions.
