Several days ago, I received some great advice from the group on watching Jay's 7 Step-21-minute ranking video. I did and to all those out there reading this, if you haven't done this yet, please do so because it will save you a lot of wasted energy and angst when it comes to your site performance, not to mention that you will learn the art of patience when it comes to your site.
Anyway, I went back and fixed up all of my posts from the last 3 months according to Jay's recommendations, including meta descriptions, internal links, external links, videos etc.

I'm happy to report that although I haven't made the first 10 pages yet, according to GTMetrix, my site scored an "A" in everything, especially the post download speed. I don't know if this was directly related to Jay's training, but before I did all that, most website raters said my site was "in need of some assistance"- gotta be nice here!
I also checked it on Website Grader and it came back with an A, except for one thing: it said to get rid of the render blocking javascript - which I don't know how to do. (Is this something we should do?)
Bottom line: watch the man...listen to the man... and do what the man says!!!
I now know the rankings will come!
