The Newbie Zone -- How Do I Choose A Good Product To Promote?
This is the fourth article in a series I'm doing to help people just like you who feel overwhelmed from all the information at WA. You can find the first article here -- Taking Your First Steps.
You've found your niche. You've got your list of keywords. Now you need to find a rockin' product to promote.
"Ok, Mr. Smarty ... how do I choose a good product to promote?"
Choosing the right product to promote is more art than science. There aren't any hard and fast rules that work for every situation, but I can share the questions I ask myself.
Question 1 -- Does This Product Help My Audience Take A Step Closer To Their Desired Outcome?
Your audience wants something. No matter what your niche, your audience has a desired outcome -- something they want more than anything else.
A good product should help your audience take a step (or many steps) closer to that outcome.
Question 2 -- Is This A Quality Product?
You'll have a much easier time earning commissions -- and avoiding refunds -- if you only promote quality products.
Do some research and try to find out what people really think about the product.
You don't have to buy every product you promote, but you do want to research them. The last thing you want is to recommend a product to your audience, then find out it's received tons of negative reviews.
Question 3 -- Is This A Good Offer?
Take some time and really study the product's sales page.
What do you think of the offer?
Is it a good value?
Does the sales copy make you want to buy it?
You could promote the greatest product in the world and still fail to earn commissions if it's a poor offer.
Your audience, like the rest of us, is starved for time and bombarded with hordes of marketing messages every day. You offer them a lot of value by performing some basic research for them.
"What About Clickbank?"
A lot of affiliate marketers start with Clickbank products. They're an easy network to join, they offer a variety of digital products that can be downloaded immediately, they pay on a regular basis, and they offer good commissions.
If you're considering promoting a Clickbank product, check out Scubaman's CB Product Research guide. It shows you how to use WA's Clickbank Research Tool -- and some other tools -- to find out more about a Clickbank product.
You should also check out Mike's (sox1n05) response in the How do I find a worthy product on clickbank to promote? forum thread. He shares his own system for finding Clickbank products to promote.
Remember to ask yourself the three questions and do your homework. Your audience will thank you for it -- with commissions.
