How to avoid scammers in digital currency area. Here are some short advices.
There are a lot of talkins now of bitcoins, Altcoins, cryptocurrency world and so on, the bitcoin go up and down, a lot of people earn some money, a lot of people loose some money in this cryptocurrency game.
But you have to remember the main thing - cryptocurrency world are trying to hurt people with scams in different forms (!)
It can be the big difference between looking for fortune in digital currencies, and losing everything to professional scammers...
Some advices when you are dealing with any cryptocurrency exchange:
1. Do not rely on a Google search to get contact information for an exchange.
Scam artists cheat the system and send their false numbers and contacts to the top of the list.
2. If you receive a message like these below at whatever exchange you are using: Ignore It.
a) Given recent outages, please help us verify your identity. Click on this link where you can enter in your username and password...”
b) “You have reached platinum status. Please sign in at ABC to receive an extra bitcoin...”
Etc., etc.
3. NEVER give your password or other account information to a site using a link given to you in an email.
4. ALWAYS go to the website directly rather than using any link provided to you in an email. And ALWAYS double check the link. It is important !
5. When you are dealing with cryptocurrency exchange like Coinbase or Kraken which are very young. Usually they don’t even have any customer service phone number. So if you search online for Coinbase support any number you find will likely be fraudulent. Do not call them. And my personal advice try to avoid such calling at all
It is important to understand the difference between the so calles “legit” currencies where there is really HUGE shortterm opportunities, and the scam currencies that are out there.
I hope my short advices are interesting and useful for you.
I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !

Great pointers. One needs to be always vigilant. In Point 4, you say double click (on the link?).
Good advice. I just don't understand crypto currency, so it all sounds like a scam to me. I know this isn't true and this block chain tech is probably the future. I m just not there yet.
