Low Hanging Fruit - Keyword Research

I can't tell you how excited I was when doing some keyword research on my personal niche and discovering so many terms with so little competition!

Keyword research is part of my "normal" 9-5 which involves a highly competitive, and often very content-saturated niche. Using tools like SEMRush and ahrefs, it's not unusual for the "low-hanging" keywords that site focuses on to be a minimum keyword difficulty rating of 35+. The more competitive terms are easily 70+!

Keyword difficulty in SEMRush is how "hard" it is to rank organically in Google's (and other search engines) top 10 results with 0 being easy and 100 being extremely hard.

Keyword difficulty in ahrefs is calculated differently and is essentially based on how many pages you'll need backlinking to you to ranlk.

So, between using those tools and Jaxxy, I was ecstatic to find so many perfect keywords for my niche that are either considered 0-14% (very easy) or 15-29% (easy) - in SEMRush terms.

With my huge list of easy possibilities to sort through (over 2,000 keywords!), I almost squealed with delight to find so many with a Jaaxy QSR of less than 50.

Now I plan to list all the low-hanging fruit that I'm genuinely excited to write about and get to work on the fun part, creating useful content for my future readers. Honestly, I'm about to create a content plan with enough juicy topics to keep me going for a very long time.

If you're new to WA like I am, I highly recommend following the Low-Hanging Fruit training to a tee! I'm sure those who are more experienced than I am will agree that it is by far the most effective content planning and keyword research method around.

For those of you who are more experienced, I'd love to hear how you utilise this (or other) research method for your sites.

Great going Victoria, you really seem to be loving it here!

I always find it beneficial to check on page one of Google for each keyword phrase to see who our competition is...

If it is full of big hitting established websites that have been around the block a few times then those with a new website will find it very difficult (not impossible) to compete with them...

If the first page contains a few forums such as quora, reddit etc then the chances of ranking there increase dramatically with a well written informative piece of content which is actually answering questions people are searching for!

I wish you all the best for the future my friend! :-)

Thanks for the great tip!

One thing I have noticed in my niche is that there are several well-established sites that are doing an amazing job with content and services etc. But, the majority look very scammy and like a site straight out of the '90s filled with shocking graphics, and keyword-stuffed articles.

So, I'm definitely taking inspiration from the first group and looking for content gaps :)

You're very welcome Victoria!

It sounds like you have done your research but many of these sites may well have started back in the 90's.. that is why they are aurthorities now!

Longitivity can go a long way in Googles eyes, if they keep on producing content (albeit not at the same rate as they started) but have been consistent over the years then they will tend to rank high!

Very awesome, Victoria! WA sounds like a perfect fit for you, my friend!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff!

It certainly feels that way so far!

You're very welcome, my friend!

This is good advice. I find using Jaxxy
and other keyword search methods to be Part of the most satisfying things when creating posts for websites.

Thank you :)

It really is! Sometimes it can be surprising what terms you discover from the seed word you initially started researching. I love it!
