I'm back - heading in a new direction
Some years ago, I began an intensive investigation into my genealogy. I spent years working on it, and then after compiling back to about 17 generations ago, I decided that as a writer and student of the human condition, I'd like to write their stories. So I picked one, at random, and wrote a book about her.
It turned out to be over 754,000 words long. First I decided to submit it to traditional (though small, indie) publishers. I got good feedback, but no bites. I revised the whole thing, breaking it up into "volumes" being the idea (many publishers won't accept anything over a few 10,000s of words). I even rewrote the thing in The King's English (since it was based in the 17th century).
Then it languished in a drawer (okay, a cyber drawer) for a few years while I dealt with other things, one of them being learning to build and run a website. I have retained the domain name I bought at the time (in the fall of last year), but changed the whole thing around. It is going to be my web-publish of my genealogy, and the book, for starters.
I want to present it to viewers to get feedback, and mostly I just want to get it out there.
So, on Friday I got busy. I did some more editing and revising, and then I decided to use my site. Hopefully I will be able to 'monetize' it by adding a few resources (I'm already approved for several merchants), and eventually submit it as an eBook myself.
I'm doing the homework and footwork to get it ready to fly. I'd love it if you all would give it a look, and tell me what you think. But most of all, I'm glad to be out of my slump.
(My cat never came back, by the way.)
Thanks for reading. Thanks even more for responding.

Glad to see your back, I have just read some good answers to someone thinking of doing ebook this could be a way for you have a look at what Techhound is saying Self publishing through amazon kindle book?
I found a site called Smashwords that has FREE membership and allows writers to set their own prices, and be distributed not only to kindle but to all other ebook outlets as well.
Vicki, it is nice to see you, welcome back. ;)) And congrats on yr new book, it must be exciting. :))
But I read recently two blog posts that says we cannot put on website link on our wa blog post. ;( I don't want you to be penalised or have yr writing access be removed. You Cannot Do This In The WA Stop Leaving Signatures With Your Website Link in WA
Great idea. And it's inspiring. I am interested in genealogy (am researching on Ancestry.com). And I like your idea about writing an e-book. Best wishes
Feel free to message me if you would like to talk about it. My journey into genealogy was all based on what I could do without subscribing to any particular service.
I'm sure there are huge gaps, but - I don't think we should have to "pay" to know what our ancestry is.
this is something that you should share -- how you did your research without using 'pay' services!
this is something I could share with my wife, a nephew, and a cousin
all the best
