Hi Veronica,
You should have a stats package on your hosting (if you have cpanel you'll have several). The best is awstats which is easy to run and shows you lots of information about visitors to you site.
You don't have to install anything. Just go to your cpanel, look for the stats area and click on awstats. The first time you run it takes a little longer.
I wouldn't recommend putting a counter on your site. In the beginning it shows people looking at your site that you only have a few visitors and anyway stats packages give you a lot more information.

When you talk about cpanel I am assuming that would be the control panel under the dashboard correct? I can not locate a cpanel or stats. Please tell me if I am in the right place?
Hi Veronica...I was going to tell you the same thing...to ask Derek. Hope that you are enjoying the weekend. :) Melanie
Archan knows how. He suggested getting a feedgit live widget to another WAer, and to either Google it or take a look at his site, zzibizz.com
Hope this helps!

Hi Veronica,
I was referring to the control panel on your hosting account not Wordpress. Who do you host your website with? Most hosting providers now use cpanel as the control panel platform.
Your stats packages are included as part of that. Let me who you host with and I'll provide more help to locate your stats software.
