A Website Broker Wants to Buy My Site

I was contacted by a web broker company today. Yes, the company is reputable, making the short list of the top 5 web brokers in 2019.

I am stunned. I never considered selling my site. I have worked on it for about 10 years.

I paid a lot of attention to others when they have sold theirs. Congratulating them and sharing in their excitement. I even wondered at what price would I sell one of my sites for? Concluding that I probably would never sell.

The site is the very first that I built for myself and started because it's an area that interests me greatly. I have developed friendships and reached 1,000's though the site.

I always figured that if I was offered an amount I would take it and immediately start another site just like it, or counter offer that they could invest 49%, but that I would continue working on it and they could pay me a salary.

WA what is your opinion on this? I'd value some input.

A difficult question that only you can answer, if you feel that the price is right and you could comfortably start another site, without regret, then to sell might be the right answer.

It is your baby, the first one that you produced on the internet. Will you be comfortable letting it go? Certainly, consider their offer and let your inner voice tell you what to do.

Personally, I say sell and move on, but in actuality, it would be a difficult thing for me to do myself. I tend to keep things longer than I should.

That's great news! Your work is recognized!

In my opinion, it depends on the offer. If the price is fair for your website value and the potential value, you can sell it and start a new adventure.

But it's fine to keep working on your site as well. I think you can't lose in any of these options. Just do whatever feels better!

Since you weren't planning on selling until they became interested, you have the option of holding out for an amount you're comfortable with. If you decide to sell, don't sell yourself (or your site short). You've got nothing to lose by doing this as you were not planning on selling at this point.

You should talk to Dylan Rieger (@dylanrieger) as he mentioned how he sold a website for $30,000. He could offer some tips on the subject. Here is the link: Best Regards,
Jim
