Conclusion
You might think that there is already so many channels and YouTubers out there, but the ocean is vast and there is always room for you.
Looking at the quality of my video, I reckon you'd think that it isn’t at an ‘amazing’ or even ‘great’ level, but I still manage to get 414 subscribers thus far (about 100 per month for now).

Great training, Idris.
I really wished I didn't wait more than 2 years to start my YouTube channel. But I must say, I am really having fun making videos and watching my channel grow.
I know it will take some time before I will meet the 1K subscribers and 4K watch hours monetizing requirements so I figured I will just keep uploading videos, do some tweaks and see where it goes.
By the way, what's your take on the idea of doing a silent livestream as a means to get subscribers? Basically, they will go live, connect with other Youtubers and trade subscription.
My college batchmate and I both started our channels almost at the same time. I subscribed to hers and she subscribed to mine.
One time I visited her channel to see how things are progressing and to my surprise, she already has close to 800 subs. To think that she hasn't been posting new videos for a couple of weeks.
When I asked her how she did it, she told me she spent a lot of time watching other people's YT videos and subscribing to their channels. She is doing silent livestream every weekends to FISH for subscribers without necessarily leaving her channel's URL.
She did encourage me to do the same. But I am hesitant not only because I don't think it's legal but also because I want people to subscribe to my channel because they actually like my content.

I wouldn't do that. She may have 800 subscribers, but I'm very sure her watch hours will not meet 4000 hours any time soon. Why not ask her how much is her watch hours? I'm curious to see if I'm right lol.
This method feels a bit like follow for follow, which basically means we follow each other to increase our follower/subscriber count. There are still people doing this on Instagram and YouTube. And sometimes, after you follow them, they might even silently unfollow you so they will have high 'follower/subscriber' and low 'following/subscribed to' ratio.
Doing this might get you subscribers, but high chance they are not going to watch your content.
Get your followers organically. That way, those who subscribe to you will have tendency to watch your content as they would be more interested in your content.
Every YouTube/Instagram growth video that I watched do not promote follow for follow, with the same reasoning above.

But then again, our content and video editing has to be good to retain watch hours, so it comes down to our skills too. With my level of skill in editing videos, I'm happy with my count of about 100 subscribers per month, lol.

That's exactly my concern, Idris; getting 1K subscribers but less watch hours.
She told me she's not sure exactly how she's going to reach that 4K or if she'll even make it within a year. But her priority right now is getting that 1K.
I haven't dived into Instagram yet as I am focused on YT and Pinterest. But I will definitely check out your training.

But no point getting 1k subs who most probably won't bother watching her content lol. She just simply won't be monetizing her channel any time soon.
Anyways, don't bother doing that. Just focus on your content and video editing, share your videos on FB groups of the same niche (if the group allows it) and the subscribers will come. Slower progress, but those are the ones who would watch your videos.

Yes, I started to upload also few of my video in You Tube. I am still in learning process how to monetize to get more subscribers.

To monetize, we need 1k subscribers and 4000 watch hours. So it's gonna take some time to monetize. I'm just concentrating on upload videos and improving for now. =)

Just starting. I stop uploading for so long since I screwed up my Google account. My YouTube Channel tie-up to my google account. If I will change my brand channel it might affect maybe. So, need to learn more before doing something wrong again. I use my real name in YouTube. That most of my video are genuine.
