Ok the first thing you are going to notice is that you input a broad keyword. This gives you a ton of ideas, and the more ideas the better. This is the most relevant keywords tool and if you are not using it you should be. Now you see a huge list of keywords in which you can sort by advertiser completion, approximate search for previous month, and approximate average search volume. What I do is sort by approximate search volume. I look for the number of 1500 or more. Also, if there is a high Google advertiser completion it is probably a profitable keyword.

The simple formula for figuring the average daily search is divide the average search volume by 30 and this will give you the daily search volume. For example, 1500 divided by 30 equals 50/day.

After you have found some keywords that have a good search per day you need to go to Google and type in the keyword with quotes around it. If it is under 10,000 there is a good chance you can get listed under Google.

Next, this is important step, go to Google/trends and make sure the graph is ascending for you niche. You want to make sure that it is going up so you have better chances of getting more sales. Make an excel spreadsheet and chart your completion and searches per day. Repeat the step until you get huge list of keywords.

Ever since Google started showing the actual numbers, I've noticed that all the numbers are over inflated. Google would show 6600 hits and Wordtracker about 600. Can't really believe either one.

I think it's important to get your keyword research from a few sources. Many times Google has 'no data' or shows me the price of a keyword is low - and these values don't help me. So even if WT is inaccurate, it's still results - we just don't know who's truly correct - and does it matter? I check quoted results to see how popular a term is too :)

Wow! I've been using Wordtracker's free keyword tool for quite some time now. I have noticed that there is a difference between WT's results and Google's. I'll just stick with the Google tool from now on. Thanks!
