Although the term architectural map doesn't actually mean as much in these days it doesn't mean that planning your website from a navigation point of view is not important.I have made this video to answer the question asked here\

Google will penalise the site in terms of ranking if the navigation is all over the place. From a consumer perspective the simpler the better, for instance if the prospective buyer can't find a page they're not likely to struggle to find it and buy. It's much easier to find another website to purchase from.

So if your website site navigation is all over the place it might be an idea to tidy it up. However, you don't need these complicated maps any more because it's quite easy to add posts and pages to WordPress without altering major construction on your site which was necessary in the old HTML days.

I know mad isn't it! I didn't start until HTML 3 and I gave up HTML 4 because CSS was just coming in. I am just looking at my HTML 4 textbook still on the shelf in my office 2836 pages!

Thanks, Catherine. It probably won't come as much of a surprise that I've never heard the term architectural map before but it sure was interesting to learn about it. Thank god for Wordpress, I say! :)

Claire you couldn't be more right! I know it's a learning curve but compared to HTML it really is a walk in the park
