In order for your domain to point to WA Hosting, you need to update your DNS (Domain Name Server) settings within your Domain Registrar.

OK, before I completely lose you with all this "DNS" talk, I will help you understand what is happening here.

WA Hosting is where you are going to be putting all of your website files. These are the same files that load when people will be visiting your domain. Your Domain is the address of your website. In order to connect these two items, you need to tell your domain where to look for the files. This is where the DNS settings come in. When you update these to point to WA Hosting, we automatically know where to look.

The name servers for Wealthy Affiliate Hosting ALWAYS are:

Primary: ns1.mywahosting.com
Secondary: ns2.mywahosting.com

In order for your domain name to point to your web space, you need to tell it where the web space is. To do this, we use something called "Name servers". A name server is simply an address that you need to point your domain to in order for it to connect with your web space.

The place that you update your DNS settings, will depend on where you purchased your domain (Domain Registrar). This will likely be:

GoDaddy.com
NameCheap.com
1and1.com

We are going to explain how to update your DNS within all of these system in the upcoming pages, so choose according to where you bought your domain.

No, you will want to login to Namecheap and change the Name Servers to point to WA. Once they have been updated, you will have full access to the domain name and DNS here at WA. You will then have the option to Transfer the Registrar from Namecheap to WA as well, but I would wait at least 3 days before you do this, if you want to do this. The main thing, are your Name Servers

Name Servers and the Registrar are two different things. Name Servers control the DNS and Registrar controls the Ownership and the company you pay for the domain name. DNS Propagation can take up to 72 hours, so I never transfer a domain name less than 3 days after making a DNS change.

It looks like you’re in the right place :-) make sure you’re entering them with dots and not spaces.

You can copy and paste the settings from Websites -> SiteDomains -> Other

From within SiteManager, have you clicked the Move button on the old website, to move it to the new domain name?

Cool, make sure you leave the redirection in place for at least 30 days. It shouldn’t take long for the move to complete :-)

I have a .de Domain that won't work with the DNS changes. My Host also says I could try it again if the nameservers know the Domain. My questions are now if i even can get an .de domain? Is WA even concepted for German websites? Will german content even work with WA keyword tool?

After updating the DNS changes for a domain, it can take up to 2 to 3 days for those changes to be replicated throughout the internet.

You are interested in two web servers knowing that change, the WA web server and the web server that you use to go out to the internet, that is your Internet Service Providers web server. Once both those servers know the DNS changes, you should be all set for the next step.

So you may just have to wait.

Oh, the 2 to 3 days do not have to be traditional business days.

In the meantime, work with the WA keyword tool to confirm or otherwise if German content will work. I would be very surprised if it does not.

You should be able to change the DNS to WA's nameservers

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

If your registrar doesn't allow for NS changes, then you'll need to get a domain that allows you to change the nameservers. If you have to get a new domain, I'd recommend going with WA as your registrar. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains

I really think that I am at a loss! I have to admit that I am a newbie in online marketing. In the first place I had a wrong understanding of Domain Name. I thought it was my company name that I registered with the Georgia Office of Secretary of State (De La Cruz Enterprises, LLC) and the website that I was intending to use (www.delacruzentllc.com) which I did not buy anywhere else. I would like to get my Domain Name through WA Hosting. PLEASE HELP !!!

Go to the SiteRubix menu item, click it to open the secondary menu. Select site Domains and purchase your domain there. You do not need to add the www. to the front of the domain these days.

Hi there,

I am working on setting up a G Suite account. The first step is to verify that I am the owner of (domain name). In order to do so I need to add the following TXT record to my DNS settings:

google-site-verification=M9XmarM_kAMveN08Dc8B5I9e-TG9t5xtEh0bPIMEI78

Can you please add this for me?

Once this is added, please delete any existing MX records and add Google's MX records.

Please let me know when this has been completed.

Thanks,

You can find WA training on setting your DNS addresses at godaddy by typing the words "dns godaddy" (without the quotes) into the WA search bar. (You shoukd look for the most recent training since godaddy has changed their site several times over the years.)

Hi,
Login to your GoDaddy account, then on the first page it takes you to.... at the top, it will say "Domains" and should display your actual Domain Name. Look to the right of that box then click on DNS then look for this "Nameserver" Click on the "Change" Button Select "Custom" and add following for WA :
http://NS1.MYWAHOSTING.COM
http://NS2.MYWAHOSTING.COM
In the respective boxes
Then click save at the bottom, and you should be good to go.
You may get an email notification from Go Daddy about the recent changes follow any instructions if needed.
Note: it could take a bit for the change to reflect. If you still have any issues Go Daddy is pretty awesome and rendering assistance.

Hope this helps. ')

HI Faraha, I was told at Go Daddy that I cannot transfer my Domain name before December 2nd. it has to be 60 days from when I bought it to be able to make the change. If you bought yours longer than 60 days from Go Daddy, just call them they will walk you through the process, they were very helpful to me, did not give me any problem at all

Domain names do not need to be transferred to use them for hosting sites at WA.

You can use the domain name even while it's still stuck at godaddy by changing the DNS address settings to point the domain at WA's hosting servers. NoMo9-5Grind has provided the steps to do that above.

I have just renewed my domain registration on DreamHost and set up my DNS settings to point here to WA but have a couple of questions (hopefully quick ones) please -

1. Does it now mean that the website previously registered and hosted on DreamHost, is now hosted here on WA?
The domain registration remains with DreamHost which is where I will renew each year?

2. Since doing that, I have set up my website here but I don't see any of the pages/posts from the website that I had created there. How do I get those?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks folks
Gary

Once you have pointed the DNS to another company, the site is hosted there.

So now, your site is hosted at WA and the domain is still at DreamHost.

The content you created before changing the DNS gets lost if not backed up.
