Reason for Training on Comments

We have been there and all been frustrated by the lack of thought that goes into comments left on our website. This training will hopefully be either a reminder or a new insight in how to leave appropriate and cordial comments. To compliment this training, check out another similar training on tips for leaving appropriate and cordial comments.

Hi Steph , excellent tutorial . This will be a great help to many .Sort of hard starting out not knowing exactly what is expected . Comments now will shift up an other level.

Thank you Alexander. I know when I first started out here at WA four months ago I probably left some not-so-great comments or I did not understand the placement of feedback vs the placement of comments. There really is no formal training to tell us. That is what I hoped I have achieved with this training.

You are most welcome Anjana. Most of my training is geared towards helping the new members (beginners) as well as advanced learners too, because I see too often comments from veteran members that are too thin, so apparently this training was needed for ALL.

Outstanding! Thank you so much for this training. I thought I left pretty good comments in the past, but this will take it to a much better level. Now, at a glance, I can make sure I have covered the key elements of a good comment. I can now just refer to this post as a reminder when I write a comment in the future. Rick

Hi Rick.
Exactly. All too often, even from people who have been here long enough, I see leaving comments that do not not those "key elements" as you say. There have been times that I have gotten an "okay" comment, but I might go in and edit it to give it those additional key elements, because I know the algorithms of Google look for those key elements. Thank you Rick for the insight.

Thanks for this. I always try to leave polite comments on people's articles but I have received a couple of comments which I have had to disapprove. One person had obviously not read my article and the other person completely pulled my website to pieces. As you say, this is not a platform for comments on people's websites and, anyway, they didn't seem to know what they were talking about. Sometimes it is better not to comment at all than to give bad feedback.

I completely agree Lucinda. And feedback is perfectly fine to give as long as you leave feedback in the proper place. Either in SiteFeedback or in the discussion but never in someone's website.
