I feel that both aspects are important, as each appeals to different sides of our personalities.

Good content certainly has an edge over pretty due to the fact that people are looking for solutions to their problems, but pretty gets their attention.....

I find myself fiddling with how my site looks when I get stuck looking for content to write. Then I have to force myself to come up with more ideas and stop messing around doing exactly what you've shown!
