How Will YOU Earn Money?

There are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business.

Today we are going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet the most powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now. It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

Just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

DISCUSS THIS VIDEO HERE: How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained

Over the coming days you are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. In the coming lessons we are going to be walking you through the following process (and the video above explains it).

There are 3.75 BILLION people online as of 2018 (YOUR audience) and these people are searching for things all the time.

They are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff. That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people and earning revenue in the process.

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience. You will have your very own piece of the internet and a platform to connect anyone that you want who browses the Internet.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

Join Discussion: What Are Your "money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

1- We need a 3 party split for the funds of a sale.

2- There are 3 parties involved in the transaction, the vendor, the admin (us),the marketplace and the distributor that sells the product through the multi vendor marketplace.

3- We as the marketplace, serve as a conduit between the vendors and the distributor that ultimately sells the products, and the proceeds fom the sale, have to be disbursed between these 3 venues, with established commissions for each of the 3 parties.

You are asking what our business is .

We are building a multi vendor marketplace, where yoga brands can sell their products through yoga studios (distributor), our marketplace serves as a conduit or commission middleman that connects the brand with the distributor, that ultimately makes the sale.

Our ideal scenario, would be that the purchase be made directly from the clients portal, that is linked via codes with the marketplace and the distributor, and the marketplace is the admin of these codes,

Having said that, once the transaction takes place, there is an established percentage to the marketplace and the distributor, the balance will go to the vendor

Then there is a question of sales tax and vat, in the case of foreign countries, I think this has to be included, or added to the price, and also goes to the vendor.

These are the features that we need, if you have any questions please contact meHave a nice weekend

Quick one, Is it possible and or morally correct to create a website that drives traffic to your own store? I have already spent money on my own shopify store and i would like that to become successful. Is it wrong to then create a website on WA to drive traffic to purchase from my own store front instead of the likes of amazon or whoever?

I choose my niche for Discounts on dental and health Plans as well as Becoming a IBO (Work from Home) Signing people up who would like to receive the dental and health discount plans. Do u think that would be a good niche. (Helping people save money or make money)

I think it is awesome. This is definitely something we all could use in the present.

We are all sick of how the insurance companies take us for what little money we have.
Let alone having to pay for the insurance, having a deductible and have to pay copays.

Each year it seems we pay them more and get less coverage.

I believe in your niche and thank you in advance.
Have you checked on the competition in Jaaxy yet?

You might want to start out with just the health insurance side of it first. Once you get your website rolling along smoothly, then venture out to the dental side of it.

But it is not Insurance. It's discount plans. The members are welcome to use the discounts with there insurance, but the product is not insurance. Do you still think I should look at starting out with the insurance side?

It does get much easier. I went through Affiliate Boot Camp three times to make the website AvoidScam.Org. I noticed that on Bing if you put in AvoidScam I am number one listed. This site is a couple years old but still a work in progress. I still have not made much monetary value from building this website but it has taught me many valuable things in regard to website construction and affiliate marketing.

Now I am doing the Online Entrepreneur Certification. My understanding is much more enhanced by the fact that I went through Affiliate Boot Camp. I am enjoying the process much more this time.

I lost some images on my home page and under widgets it says,

"This widget may contain code that may work better in the "Custom HTML" widget. How about trying that widget instead."
And under the message is still shows siterubix instead of .com

Any suggestions as I am in the dark on this. It was ok until recently.

Which widget are you trying to add? Do know that a widget is "code" and you should be adding to either the "text" tab within the editor or if you are adding code within an actual widget in Wordpress, you should be using the custom HTML widget.

hmm...at least you love our WA concert and first 10 lessons? about your decision go to premium or not, there are some options for example: sell back old stuffs what you really don't need, or cut off some small expenses like snacks or Starbuck daily morning (sorry If I'm wrong). Like someone said that If you have a will, then you will find a way to make it.

Good luck and during your starter membership, you still can create two free websites with Site Rubix :)

I agree with ThongN. There are usually things we can cut back on. But I also understand if there are not. Going premium made a big difference in my life. just paying that monthly amount made me focus better. And I found my myself pulled into this beautiful community. And soon I became a very active member, which opened even more doors. Pursuing this dream is meant to help you achieve the goal of not living paycheck to paycheck. If you have any questions or need help with the process let me know. And you can create a site without being a premium member. The point is just starting the journey.

Watching the video alone, explained a lot of niche and I do not have to do boot camp in order to start my website. The video alone is enough for me.

The problem with most people is they want money very fast like now and they get distracted while watching the video. Rewatch each video couple of times if you don't understand what niche is. With this video I will begin pretty soon with my affiliate marketing and blogging.

That is the biggest problem with "failure" that I see in this industry. People are conditioned by all of the bogus programs out there to want "quick" success. The reality is if you want success, you have to take the proper steps and build a business.

That is what we teach here at WA, the proper process of creating and growing an online business and provide you with all the tools that you need to do so.

Here to help you out every step of the way Fatu, so if you ever need anything at all moving forward let us know. ;)

Hi! I would like to start a blog about vegetarian seasonal cooking however I would also like to start another blog to document my journey towards making money online and promote Wealthy affiliate in the process.
Question1: Do you think starting 2 things at the same time is too much?
Question 2: I know I need to become a Premium member to access the Affiliate Bootcamp. Once I have done the course and have the website up and running, do I need to remain a Premium member?
Question 3: I would like to build the Vegetarian blog through Wordpress hosted in Bluehost. Would the course I'm doing that be useful for that, or it's mostly for people wanting to build their website through here.
Question 4: If I were to build my website through here, what would happen to the website if I was no longer a Premium member?

Sorry, a lot of questions... I'm a bit confused :(

Hello there, good questions:
1. yes two things at once will certainly dilute your efforts, it's a lot of content to by pumping out also a lot of research when you are new to the second niche, it's usually recommended to get one well established then do another, but it's still possible for you to chart your progress and share your links, just be realistic which site is going to get your main focus at first
2.no you do not need to be a Premium member to access bootcamp, but there are 7 levels of training in bootcamp and you'll be confined to level 1. You still however can share links and make commissions, those commissions are still very good though less than a Premium member - some members share some links and get referrals and end up in here for free, that's free hosting and training and help. Your links for every page are in the white button top of every page and also in the dollar sign top right.
3. This course would be excellent for your vegetarian blog hosted at Bluehost because this course sets you up for SEO and traffic and writing good content, no matter where you are hosted you need that. Hosting happens to come free with Premium membership but if you are hosted elsewhere that is fine, many members already are.
4. If you build your website through here and leave premium then you have 30 days to move your site to other hosting. Remember you can take Premium with or without hosting your site here. And you can do the training on a free site until you know which direction you want to take. In any case, the training is a good idea wherever you end up choosing your hosting, you will want the traffic and SEO. Hosting here has some perks but you have an opportunity to try everything out and no pressure to move hosts. In the end you'll like not want to be moving your website around hosts, so try everything out until you are comfortable with a decision.

When I first started Wealthy Affiliate I had a hard time picking a Niche. Because of this I went through the Wealthy Affiliate Boot Camp. By doing this it gave me time to think of Niche's and learn how to make a website and affiliate marketing.

My website I made in Wealthy Affiliate Boot Camp is called AvoidScam.Org. I looked today and when AvoidScam was searched I was ranked #1.

As far of Niche's I am having no problem picking out Niche subjects now. Infact I have many Niche;s and have to decide which one I am going to do. Not because I cannot think of one but because I have to many.lol

I am just getting started and have a few ideas for Niches that would play to my strengths. I am an avid gardener and would love to build a business that caters to people having trouble with gardening and need to learn about soil amendments, chemical free fertilizers and pest/weed control, as well as one for people needing help planning a garden or flowerbed and looking for rare, unique and hard to find plants. I'm sure these are a bit broad, but I'm hoping someone can let me know if that sounds viable as a Niche? I also have a real passion for dogs, and was thinking of doing a Niche like finding the healthiest dog foods, snacks, treats and toys but am starting to think that's a bit much for a beginner to tackle. I welcome any feedback and ideas from this wonderful community!
Reply
LeeMcQuay Premium
I would definitely go with gardening. You seem very knowledgeable about it.
I would start out not so broad and then work your way to another branch of gardening once you got your site really going.
I think you can really do some good with a niche like that.
I would start out with
I want to help people_____
And fill in the blank and then check the competition in Jaaxy, then go from there.

I saw the popularity of the dog market when I looked into my first niche (cat products). Both are strong markets that are growing rapidly as people spend more on their pets and take better and better care of them. There are more searches for dog products than cat products but there is a lot more competition for dog niches.

You certainly could make it work though. The key is to find great keywords and promote products that solve people's problems. For me that has been foods and supplements to help with common health problems as well as other supplements and products for behavior problems, cleaning etc.

Gardening would be a fun niche but honestly it seems it might be harder since a "problem" in gardening is less likely to feel as dire as your dearly beloved pet throwing up due to food intolerance or misbehaving. Solving a real problem for your readers means they will be thrilled to find your advice and ready to jump on whatever solution you offer them.

I have not checked the keywords to see how much demand there is for the gardening niches however. I love gardening myself so I know it is a great passion for many.

Good luck! If you are interested, here is a post I wrote on how to choose a niche and domain name. Jessica

I knew that i wanted to base my niche around babies, my inspiration came from my own baby because i knew i would enjoy learning new things for her but i am stuck on two niches... either a whole website based on breastfeeding (nursing tops, accessories, covers, pump accessories) OR Nursery (cribs, rockers, lamps, decorations). I think a general baby website is a little too broad and would be a little hard to keep up with starting out. What do you guys think?

It isn't that competition is a bad thing, if you are an awesome writer who can produce quality in every post, then you will have no problem, but I myself go for the lower competition.

Those are some great ideas for a niche. You should ponder it. Is there one that sticks out above the rest? Which are you most passionate about? It needs to be something you will enjoy writing and talking about for a long time. Something you love learning about and/or helping others with. Something you won't ever get tired of learning more about, exploring, and researching. Those are all popular on the web I think.

In the past, Wealthy Affiliate has run a special for 'Black Friday' - offering annual premium for $299 for the life of your membership. So you have two options - upgrade to annual premium now for $359 and then, in November IF they run the special again, lock in for another year for $299. Or, pay $49/mo until November and see if they run the sale again. I recommend going annual now, there is no guarantee they will have another special (although they have done it every year for a while now).

I've been around WA for a long time. 5 years plus! I've learned a lot, but I jumped around. I completed this training in a hop, skip and jump sort of way. I've learned to build websites and have been busy building sites for local businesses. That creates income, but not passive income.

I decided to come back to review the Entrepreneur Certification Program. I'm taking notes and implementing all of the homework assignments on my website. I'll work my way through these lessons a step at a time and I'll not skip around. First time around I was impatient and skipped ahead. I have wasted a lot of time.

Your time is your life. Use it wisely.

We all want to create a on line business and when we learn about the potential of creating passive income it becomes a goal for most of us.

I will be happy earning $2K/month. My ultimate goal is $50K/month and more. Goals need deadlines or they remain simply dreams. $2K by the end of the year.

Did I say $50K/month or a year? YES, my goal is $50K per month within two years. Is is possible? Yes it is but it will depend on how much effective time I put into building my business. I retired and can work my business a minimum of 4 hours per day. If you are working and can only put a half hour a day into your business it will take you much longer to succeed.

Success will come a step at a time. Be consistent. Set your goal and work on that goal every day.. The turtle just keeps moving forward while the rabbit procrastinates under a tree.

Check out my profile and visit my business website.

Hello! For many months, I've been reading reading articles on how to become an aff. The more I read the more I found my head full of nothing but confusion and emptiness. To get something started I bought a dormain via HOSTGATOR. I got confused and stuck in building the site, so it's uncompleted.
Coming across and joining WA, these few days, I'm getting a better feeling. Now my questions are these: What do I do? Do I need another dormain name, since the website I have is uncompleted and has no particular niche attached to it. And what are the implications of bringing it to WA?
Thanks in advance for your patience and having the heart to help.

- You can move your site to here or if you don't like it delete it
- You can keep your domain at hostgator or point it to your website hosted here
- If you don't like your domain name then you can purchase another that is more appropriate for your website

My best advice is to go through all the lessons in Course 1, all of this is explained. From there you'll be able to make informed choices. Then if you still have question or need more clarification ask again.

Hope this helps :)

I have gradually moved my sites to WA. With my premium membership I have 25 primary URLs and 25 secondary URLs. That is an incredible deal even if we got nothing else from WA.

I use my siterubix sites for test sites. I suggest you leave your current URL with Hostgater and use one of your siterubix sites as a test site where you will implement everything you learn in these classes. When you are confident you siterubix site is doing something you like, you can implement it on your Hostgator site.

I'm following you. Let us know how you are progressing and don't hesitate to ask questions. I can usually get answers to a problem in minutes here at WA when Hostgator support might take days.

Hi, My passion is Schnauzers but I picked up your saying that when deciding on your niché your main aim should be to help people. It was a Damascus moment when I realised I have found the final piece of my Life Puzzle. My entire life I have cared for invalids and physically handicapped family members. My greatest problem was finding anything that could assist me to make life easier for the patient as well as for myself as the carer. I would therefore like to concentrate on all the available gadgets and goodies that could improve the quality of life of both patient and carer. Would this be a suitable niché as I am sure there must be many people out there needing assisted living ideas? Would it be better just to concentrate on Stroke patients and Rheumatoid Arthritis sufferers?
Thank you!
Reply
feigner Premium
with the solutions you will find with the gadgets to assist the carers - it should be a very good niche.
you can have a broad site but concentrate on one area until you have exhausted it - so pick stroke patients and just write about that area.
then go on to Arthritis sufferes and help them.
Good luck with your online journey

if you've ever used disability aids then you'll know one product can be useful to many different conditions, I've actually used these aids in the past and it seems crazy to me to see people telling you to aim for this group or that if they haven't used them, I was not an arthritis person but still needed some stuff they may have used - you should know this if you are experienced

also, you have free sites to go through the training, you can experiment on one of those so you can change it up when you get a better feel for it

sounds like you have experience in that niche, and your passion is the other schnauzer niche too - you can help people with schnauzers if you like too :D but work only one niche website at a time, just saying it's all helping 'people' in the end

also check your competition out there to see how they are doing stuff

Feigned has the right idea for you. I think that is a wonderful idea.
Are you going to focus on the care for the physical handicapped? You could focus on the products that help with transferring them from their bed to their wheelchair for example. Then once you have exhausted that you could move on to shower equipment and so on. You could do it this eddy no matter what type of individual you are trying to help.
Your niche is very doable and who better to do it than someone who could benefit from discovering ways to make both the patient and care givers life easier.

I would be happy having a successful website. My website is going to be educational. If I can help people, that will be my motivation. If I have to put a monetary value on it, I would be happy making a thousand dollars a month.

I would be ecstatic if I made 50 000 dollars a year.

I am willing to put a couple hours a night into the website.

This is my second website. I also made a website through Wealthy Affiliate Boot Camp. My other website is AvoidScam.Org.

I never made any money off of it. I put money and a lot time into it. I don't look at it as waste of time because I did learn how to build a website and also learned affiliate marketing.

QUESTION - I am really into “men’s watches”. If I were going to use that as my niche should I narrow it down more? Narrow to maybe just “automatic watches” or “digital watches” or only “Swiss watches” or only one brand of watches like “Tag Watches”. Or maybe just simple “men’s watches”? I don’t know... Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

i would keep it at mens watches, but work out what new info you are bringing to the table or what problem or desire you are creating solutions for.
good luck with your online journey

Thanks! I am still just starting with the WA training so still not crystal clear on the idea but was basically just planning on doing reviews of a bunch of different watches. Do you think that will work? What do you mean by “what problem or desire I will be creating a solution for?” With regards to watches, any ideas

Also, after watching the video and thinking about the website piece, how do I go about creating a website that integrates with one I already have established and which the domain is owned by the company; I have the site as an independent contractor. Do I create a new site with a name around the business field and just add in links to drive website visitors to my other site?
Reply
onmyownterms Premium
No, depending on the program (I'm a veteran of multiple MLMs), most do not allow distributors to establish websites outside of their company-provided replicated website. Be sure to check with the company to find out if you're allowed to link to the replicated site - none of the MLMs I was involved with allowed that. Also, if you don't have much content, you won't get much traffic to your site as it could just be seen as a 'bridge page' to your other site. That doesn't mean you couldn't have a site that's in a different niche though.

I am at the portion of video where Kyle says to "visit" site (approx 9:41), and to right click on the site to view page source. The box that opens on my page doesn't give that option. It only offers Back, reload page, open in dash, save page as, and print page. Am I missing something?
Reply
Kyle Premium
That is because you are likely clicking on a link. You will want to click on "white space" on the page, and it will trigger a different menu.

I hope this helps. ;)

I have a website with another host sever how can I transfer to WA?
I contacted my host server NetrRegistry, Australia and they explained that if I point my server to WA my website won't work?
My website is www.groutsolutionsperthwa.com.au
I had it built in wordpress and would like to optimise it on the WA platform.
Could you please help by looking at my website and tell me what to do??
I would appreciate this very much if you can assist me.and if you have any questions please contact me.

Best wishes

This is partly true because what I'm sure they meant is that it won't work until you rebuild your site in the WA system. If you created the site in Wordpress you need the export your site using a WP plugin then you will import it over to your new site hosted here.

I suggest building a new free rubix site then importing the file from your old site.

If you can transfer your domain over to WA then you don't need to worry about the Name or host Server issue

Good luck to you and if you need more help feel free to ask.

Hi jbcross22
I have created a new free rubix site and also backed up my old site. Can I import my back up files to the rubix site and if so how do I do this?
Also have WP Clone on both sites.
Once again thank you for your help.

So I have never used WP Clone but from their page after you select the Plugin it says you would need to restore from the URL on your .rubix site (I'm assuming when you did your back up they gave you a URL).

can someone help me understand the process of making my website it is asking me about a home title that should be about 25-30 words but i have never seen nor created a title that was more than a couple words long. what exactly should i be putting in that description bar?
Reply
Kerjackie Premium
The title of your website will show up when you get ranked in Google and other searches engines. The home title won't show up on your website.
Then you will make a home description of what your website is about and how it will benefit people.
Go back to Kyle'VIDEO" Level first. Did you buy a Domain name?
your Domain name will reflect your website.

Would 'cheap travel' be considered a niche? I LOVE finding cheap flights for people because it is possible to do things on the cheap side? Or is that too broad?

Also, would alternative fitness be a niche? (alternative fitness being..acro yoga, rock climbing, fire spinning, silks, areal arts, poii..etc)

Another question, At this stage of the game I'm not a premium member, so I get to set up a site with a sub domain, but what if I upgrade after my initial setup? Do I then scrap the subdomain site and start a new site with my own domain?
Reply
edensbox Premium
If you get your own domain, you can transfer all your info to it. Make sure you do redirects from the old site to the new one so google knows where it moved and that it is not duplicate.

The easiest way to do the redirects is with a plugin called Redirection

if you decide to buy your own domain, you will be able to transfer your subdomain through Wealthy Affiliate at no cost. It is also very simple to do.

Nono, you can keep the sub domain or ideally purchase your own main domain and move the sub domain onto it.

Doesn't it automatically get redirected once you transfer through Wealthy Affiliate?

Do I have to build a website now or can I continue with the training then come back and build it then? Also do you have to, or should you have an LLC or another entity set up in order to get a site up and running? It seems so early to set up a site now. It seems like such a huge commitment so early in the game. And Im not even a premium member. What if I decide to forget about this whole endeavor , what happens then?

I would suggest watching the video, then begin to build per lesson, leaving the guide open that's posted below the video.

That is just how I have been doing it, it helps just to double check I am doing things correctly.

We all learn differently though, I like to practice what I see.

Just remember, it takes search engines a couple weeks to catch onto your website.

There is no pressure, should be no stress, you should be having fun building your business!

Okay I have three questions.

1: The theme I chose already has an about the author on the side. But I can't seem to be able to find a way to put my About Me post inside it.

2: Inside widgets there is something called a page sidebar. I put dummy content in it to try and find where it was located on my site but found nothing.

3: My theme seems to be tailored more toward a heavy blogger or writer. I wanted to potentially change it. But when I click on change theme it redirects to a new page that is all white and has tiny words saying Bad Request. What is going on here?
Reply
Kamie,
I hope I can at least point you in the right direction. I'm still fairly new at this...

You can delete those default posts the theme has set in place such as comments, pages, and posts, by following the instructions in lesson 5.

There, Kyle instructs us to remove any posts and pages before we input our own to make it a blank canvas.

I haven't quite explored the the widgets portion just yet so I don't have much information there.

As for themes, as a STARTER, you can select one theme for your site, and are given a few extras to choose from but you can only change them through your wordpress amin. page.

Premium members get access through the WA site to change themes and edit posts, etc.
Starters have to edit through Wordpress admin login.

Honestly, if you aren't a fan of your theme, you could always hit the reset button ( delete your site and start over, but I'd only do this if you have nothing on there, or have saved all of the posts you have already created thus far to a word document).

I did my about me post last night, took me a while, all the writing was straight off the top of my head, yet it said it contained duplicate content. I published anyway of course anyone as I've no idea which part was elsewhere on the net. Should I be worried about this hurting my rankings?

OK the question is why should we publish the "About me" as a post and not a page? Isn't it the case that as we move forward and add more and more posts to the main page, the older posts become archived and can't be visible anymore? Isn't it the purpose of "About me" content to be always visible to the visitors so especially the new visitors could have a chance to know more about you? Can someone please clarify?
Reply
feigner Premium
you can add the about me to your menu structure so it is always visible - the reason it is a post is to allow change- people adding comments.
pages are more static information without comments - although this can be changed.
so add your about me to your menu either at the top of the footer menu and it will always be visible.
Good luck with your online journey

It is more of personal preference. Some people post it as a page and some prefer post it as a post. If you post it as a post but you don't want it to show together with the other post, you can exclude if from the blog post if your theme has that option.

I would prefer to post it as a page.

Thank you Maria... I think the solution and the reasoning Phil provided below my post is very logical too. I have asked this cause I have seen countless websites having this as a page not a post but I trust the judgement of the guys here which are truly knowledgeable about what they are talking about.
Thanks again and wish you all the best with your journey towards entrepreneurship.

Good to know Joe... I've seen so many people doing what you do and publish it as a page. Also referring to the Phil above, I think adding it to the menu structure could also be a good logical thing to do though I don't know how to do it at the moment.
Reply
newmarketpro Premium
You can control what are in the navigation through menu creation and management i.e. Appearance > Menu.
If you happen to visit any authority site, all their pages normally located at the footer section together with legal pages, contact me page, support link etc. You can always create "page menu" and Main Menu and place it where you want it to be shown via widget or theme customization.

Again, all these are personal preference and not a rule.

It's suppose to be a page. Been a while since I've been through the training here but that is for sure how they taught (About Me=Page) it when I took it.

I would make it a page for the very reason you just stated- An "About Me" page needs to be evergreen content...aka a page!

Hi Craig,

In WordPress, select Appearance->Customize. Depends on your theme, under General Settings->Header Image you should be able to upload the logo.
In the same area, you should be able to change the color.

Hope this helps.

Is health and fitness a good niche to pick or is that niche crowded with lots of people to compete with? My main concern is being able to get my website to be recognized on page 1 of google in about a years time? Is that do able in health fitness?
Reply

What aspect of the health/fitness niche do you want to help people with? There are literally 1,000's of niches within these categories and you will want to narrow it down.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Damn dude that was actually really helpful. Well for starters I went ahead and purchased the domain name www.thewhitecollarathlete.com yesterday. And I was gonna base my brand off of strength training and body building. Potentially blogging about diet hacks, supplementation, cool gym wear, etc. Is this too broad? Do I need to add more? Is there anything that I'm missing?
Reply
Ricargon Premium
That's a great niche you have there Jarrett, it's probably one of the hottest niches out there right now. The fact that you're into that makes it an ideal niche for you.

In response to your comment about doing diet hacks, supplementation and so forth, stick to what Kyle mentioned earlier and focus on one specific thing you can offer your viewers.

I'm sure you can bring in other ideas into it, but start out with what it is that you can help them in right now, on whatever is more in demand then bring in your other ideas.

So you'll probably have to figure out what or where the priority needs to be focused on first then follow up with the other things ie. diet hacks, cool gym wear and so on.

You wouldn't want to sell cool gym gear or fitness equipment if the main demand is weight loss.

Take care of the demand or problem people have now. There are other ways and ideas to find out what your audience want and need. Through surveys and things like that on your blog, but focus on the main issue first.

I'm into fitness myself, I'd like to see what your blog looks like when you're done. Please hit me up and let me know once you're done with it.

Keep rockin' it!

Rick

Is an idea like "Recommending a series of products that belong to different categories based on pre-defined criteria" could also be considered as a niche or should it be focused on a particular set of products?
