Search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo are after ONE thing. The most relevant content.

If you can build out your website in a way that is ready for SEO (as discussed in the last lesson) and create quality, relevant content, you are going to have a bright journey ahead of you within the online world.

The thing that most people stress about is being a "writer", you DO NOT have to be a writer to be successful online.

You simply need to communicate with your audience, the same way that you would with a friend or a family member. And if you put the emphasis on helping people, you are going to be able to build trust, which is going to lead to long term and sustainable success online.

SiteContent, a Writer's Dream Platform

As both a Starter/Premium member, you have access to the SiteContent platform here at Wealthy Affiliate. This platform offers you some incredible features as a writer that will lead to more efficiency, accuracy, and speed with your content creation.

You can access the SiteContent platform through the Websites menu.

SiteContent offers you some unbelievable features that are going to make your life as a "blogger" much more efficient.

  • 100's of critical grammar and spelling checks
  • Duplicate content checker
  • Automated publishing directly to your website
  • Writing goals and accomplishments
  • SEO analysis and checks
  • Content structure analysis
  • Ability to template content
  • Vocabulary enhancement suggestions

This is where you are going to be creating all of your content moving forward. You will be setting writing goals and leveraging the "feature rich" platform for writing. If you are worried about your writing skills, the SiteContent interface is going to help you understand where you are making writing errors and help you correct them in a very efficient manner.

It is going to be your go to writing tool moving forward and it is exclusive to Wealthy Affiliate members only!

I have created a little walk-through video called "Creating Your Initial Website Content (Framework), showing you around the platform and how to best benefit from it. Watch the video below.

Task 1: Creating Your "About Me" POST

To establish a brand online in any niche, you need to build trust with your audience. The best way to initially do this is through an "about me" style page. Every successful website will have some information about their brand, who they are and why they want to help people.

Your first task today is going to be to create your About Me page and you are going to be doing this directly within the SiteContent platform.

Within your Templates tab, you are going to see that you already have the framework for your About Me page already outlined.

Simply click on the About Me template and it will take you into the SiteContent editor. This is where you will be creating your content for your About Me page.

The first thing you are going to want to do is choose a title that is appropriate for your about me page. There are several options that I suggest you choose from in terms of your naming convention.

  • About Me
  • About NAME (ex. About Kyle)
  • About SITE (ex. About Real Deal Affiliate, About RDA)
  • About Us

The most natural and the option that I have always used because I feel it resonates and creates the most trust is "About Me" or "About Kyle", because it is the most direct. It feels like I am here for you and I am here to help (which is the case with every site I create).

Then you will want to populate the content. Do know that this is just a guideline, as you edit this post you can add new headings and of course you are in full control of the content and your story.

This is not a rigid exercise here, you are YOUR OWN brand and you can build out your content in any way you like, but this will give you a good guideline here.

After your are done doing this you will be click the Publish button in the right corner, just above your editor. This is going to allow you to publish directly to your website (see below).

Upon clicking Publish, you will get a pop-up that will allow you to choose how you want to publish the content. This is a 4 step process.

Step 1: You will want to choose your website that you want to Publish to, in this case it will be my "" website.

Step 2: Choose "Post", not a "Page". The reason is all POSTS allow for comments on them and this is a page on my website where I am going to want to allow people to leave comments and feedback. Pretty much every article you publish moving forward will be done so as a "Post".

Step 3: Choose the user. If this is a new site, you will likely only have an Admin user. That is fine, choose that as your user.

Step 4: Choose the URL plug. Leave it "as is". You shouldn't need to change your URL plug, this is something that you can leave.

The Click Publish. Upon doing so, SiteContent is going to run a duplicate content check, and then publish the content to your website. Since you wrote your About Me page it will be 100% unique.

Task 2: Adding Your "Privacy Policy" PAGE

All major affiliate programs and all advertising platforms require that you have a "Privacy Policy" on your website. This is a formality more than anything and it is very much a standardized document.

You are going to want to load up the Privacy Policy Template from your templates.

Upon doing so, you will get a standardized Privacy Policy page. You are just going to need to make a few edits within the content to update this Privacy Policy and make it relevant to your website.

Change => Your Website URL

In the case of my website, I changed it to There about 10-11 instances of this that you will need to update within the Privacy Policy.

Then you will want to change:

Change => Your Email Address

This could be any email you want, you could even create a free gmail account for the purpose of this. Or if you don't feel comfortable leaving your email at the moment, this can be something that you provide to people at a later date.

Upon updating the and to your website details, you will want to Publish the Privacy Policy to your website.

Publish as a Page.

The reason you want to create this as a Page, not a Post is because Pages don't allow for comments. You don't want people commenting on your Privacy Policy, whereas you are going to want to allow for comments and engagement on the rest of your website (as it is good for rankings).

NOTE: If you do publish as a page and there are comments there, not to worry. That is just how your "theme" you chose was designed and it will not present any issues moving forward.

You are all set with your first few pages of content on your website. If you have any questions about the creation of your "about me" or "privacy policy" pages, leave them below.

Kudos to you for your hard work thus far, in the next lesson we are going to be covering navigation on your website and how to create custom menus. ;)

Tasks 0/3 completed
1. Watch the "Creating Your Initial Website Framework" Walk-through Video
2. Create & Publish Your "About Me" POST
3. Create & Publish Your Privacy Policy PAGE

Good morning! I am a personal trainer. I just thought of a niche.. I live in Colorado Springs where we are known for our mountains.. I want to tie the mountains into my niche.. We have “The Incline” here which is basically a hiking trail going up the mountains.. I was thinking, I can do fitness videos every Saturday going up Incline.. if I so happen to not go to the Incline, I can do a fitness video with a mountain scenery.. I’m also going to do fitness articles.. I can easily be an affiliate marketer by finding ways fitness products such as hand weights and resistance bands can tie into an Incline workout. What do you think about “Mountain Fitness” .. However I think it could be a conflict if I decide to move to California down the line. lol

Quick answer - don't move to California! :-)
Rico11 Premium
I hear that everyday. Lol

Sorry, couldn't resist it!

Its a bit like the joke

" A man goes to the doctor and says" 'Doc, I keep getting a pain when I lift my arm to here' Patient indicates lifting his arm above his head.

Doctor replies ' Well, don't lift your arm above your head!' :-)

My original statement applies!!! :-)
I see that Premium membership is heavily promoted... But as a starter having no money to invest and from a poor country, I have one question. Did anyone here managed to earn some money just from starter training? If so, I will invest in Premium as soon as earn enough from starter training. Thanks!
AbieAJ Premium
The starter package is a taster for you to find out if this platform meets your business needs.

Please understand and appreciate this is not a get rich quick scheme. Applied knowledge through tutorials takes lots of hard work, time, effort and commitment on your part.

It will generally take 3-6 months before you see any real ranking/income throughout.

Hope this helps clarify your question.
Hi I'm waiting for any one to answer your question also, good question.
Mark K Premium
Yes, it is possible to make some money just as a starter. However you will need to do some additional research your self. You wont have the step by step plan included in premium membership or the support you might need.

It will take a lot longer as a starter member

I am still in the middle of the Getting Started Program but I recently upgraded to Premium. It's not because I was guaranteed to earn while I'm still learning but the step by step instructions and the quick responses that I got to my questions assured me that I will have the guidance and support I need to achieve my financial goal.

However, I'm also curious~^

If someone has managed to earn just from the starter training, well it would be such a great encouragement to all of us newbies to do our best and be like that someone.
Thanks then I will join later
Anyways thanks WA.

Hi! This is such a good question. My quick answer is I think yes you can. But hey, I think the better question would be, shall you earn a lot via the free site, do you really want to have a "" beside your brand name?

I think going Premium will save your time (which also translates to money), and the possibilities become endless. I would like to perceive it as an investment. Depends on what you value actually.

What I love about WA is firstly, everything is here already. I don't like to go out there and research. It saves me time around 5 hrs reading and Googling around. Time is money too. As a Premium member, I saved that 5 hrs and used it for writing time because my questions can be answered here so quickly. Secondly, you can host for up to 10 websites (how cool is that to diversify in the future?). And lastly, there are more ways to earn on top of your own niche blog: WA referral has a high commission rate, and we can earn by commenting on blog posts (although sometimes I think SiteComments sucks).

I have blogger friends who are not in WA. They don't like it here because 1) it's expensive for them (I find this so funny because I'm from a third world country, they're from US, Europe), and 2) what is here can be found out there. If you can learn about the Amazon affiliate program and you have a large following in Facebook, I think you can earn using the free hosting. But hey, do you really like to go through the transfer process (back to my first question) shall you earn? Trust yourself and you will earn. You can even refer your friends to just sign up here and you'll earn!

I am also a newbie. My blog hosted in WA is just 2 months old. But I have already earned more than what I initially expected, way beyond the minimum 3 sales required by Amazon, and I have 2 articles in positions 1 and 2 in Yahoo. I was on Premium when I got that, but I think it's not because of my domain name, but because 1) I write good *stuff (see where self-belief can take you lol), 2) I used my personal Facebook account to drive traffic to that. Plus! my first Amazon sale was never through WA--it was through a FB group where affiliates buy using each other's links. Those articles ranked high with just one WA lesson: the low hanging fruit. Imagine the possibilities when you unlock the other Lessons.

Bottomline, personally I don't believe in the "3 months" because if you follow Kyle's low hanging "formula", Jay's keep your head low and keep writing good content, and believe in what you write, then you will get indexed no matter what.

So there, take what resonates with you. But I hope my story can help you decide. Sorry it's too long it looks like a blog post, but I just felt compelled to answer your question because it is so honest it deserves an honest answer too. Cheers!

That's a great answer, and yes I can see that you do write good 😉

Hi you all.. I am just got certified as a personal trainer; After watching these training videos, I realized I will be able to do a lot better bringing traffic to my website; and actually writing about my fitness niche.. I want to do a youth fitness. Should this niche be narrowed down a bit more?
seanbennick Premium
I don't think you need to narrow it down beyond that. What's your site name / url?
I need a training session please
megawinner Premium
Yes you can devide your youth fitness into diet, activities, exercises and out door sports.
paulash177 Premium
I think so
Rico11 Premium
Thank you so much for your response. I created a fitness brand called Insane Fitness (IInsanefiTness) years back.. I wanted to use; but I’m kind of confused as to rather or not I should include something dealing with youth in the url.
Rico11 Premium
Thank you so much for your input.. Now that you say that, I can use youth physical activities. That’s more of a direction I would feel more comfortable doing..

Hey, so I have a candle business with a website up and running. Am I supposed to have my niche based around candles? I feel if I do that, I will be promoting the candles of another company. And if I picked a different niche to promote on my website like lets say nail polish... would that look weird to the customers shopping on my website. I feel like the niche and my business website have to go hand-and- hand, but there isn't a real way to do that without promoting some other companies candles.
siamjerry Premium
You are right, your business website is your niche. I truly hope this is what you wanted. You will be promoting candles from another company, but you should do so as an affiliate to that company. That is the basics of affiliate marketing.
Once you have chosen candles, stay away from promoting other products like nail polish, so as to not confuse your audience. The principle here is one website, one niche only.
Kendra14 Premium
Thanks so much that helps me. In my candle business, I make and sell my candles on my website to customers. So this niche thing for me would pretty much have to be a whole new business and new website.
TheBobbyD Premium
Yes, if you have another niche different from you candle business, then it is best to start a new website for that niche.

However, on your candle website you can look for items to promote that go along with candles, like candle holders, or table runners that you set candles on, just think accessories, and promote those on your candle site, if you don't already.

Good luck.

seanbennick Premium
Kendra, you can also add a store and sell your own candles through the Affiliate website if it's separate. If it's the same site, then keep the Affiliate links to your blog portion and make sure to sprinkle your own products in there as well. Think of the Affiliate Revenue as bonus money or drop shipping.
megawinner Premium
You may promote yours. However the challenge is how do you send the candles around the world. Whereas if it i another candles through Affliate program, you only have to write content on these candles and if your redersbuy from your site, you will get commissions. You do not to worry about shipping, and all that.
seanbennick Premium
Megawinner has a point. There are plugins that can show different content based on your location. I would use one of these and push your own products to the markets where you are able to ship.

I've used this one previously for a client. I recommend the pro version.
I want a mentor to give me samples of niche
megawinner Premium
A sample of a niche is Fitness Training. Now you may want to norrow it you may want to go to the exercise training. In the gym there are types of exercises using equipment, They are aerobic activity and training, strength training, balance training and flexibility training. So if you choose. Fitness training Exercises you would have many options to go to equipmentor accessories. Those are your niche.

Niche is a specific topic of your choice. You should think of a niche that would earn you money through commission not only about what you are most passionate about and most interested in.

This is really a good niche! I like the idea. :)
